It’s more than just an excuse to enjoy a slice of cake!

Macmillan Coffee Morning brings people together to enjoy a cuppa, share some delicious treats and, most importantly, raise money to support people living with cancer.

At WDS, we’re proud to take part and support the incredible work of Macmillan Cancer Support. Our annual Cake Day gives colleagues the chance to get together, enjoy some homemade and shop-bought treats, and make a contribution to a cause that provides vital support to people and families affected by cancer.

Today is National Manufacturing Day, where we celebrate the diversity, skills and opportunities that make UK manufacturing such an important and productive sector.
Manufacturing encompasses a wide range of industries, from engineering and automotive to aerospace, food and drink, defence, chemical and pharmaceutical. Behind each sector are skilled people designing, developing, making and maintaining the products and machinery that keep industry moving.
At WDS Components, we’re proud to play our part in this industry, drawing on nearly 75 years of engineering experience while continuing to develop skills, knowledge and opportunities for the future. From our early days (as pictured in this photo) right up to the present, we’ve continued to evolve, embracing new technologies, developing our expertise and supporting the changing needs of industry.

Captive fasteners, which include specialised screws, bolts and nuts, are a smart alternative to the standard, fully threaded fastener. The captive fastener is designed to partially screw into the threaded hole with a plain shank section, allowing the screw to go loose while remaining attached to a workpiece or other components.
