DON'T MISS!

Faroese legends Spælimenninir will return to Shetland in September with two concerts - in Sandwick on September 26th, and in Cullivoe n September 27th.

First captivating audiences in 1977 with the lauded 'Great Faroese Road Show' (and Kristian Blak's famous piano!), Spælimenninir toured through Caithness, Orkney and Shetland halls, from Foula to Fetlar, Cullivoe to Quendale. Since then the band has returned many times, forging lasting friendships across the isles.

The highly regarded band, well known for playing weekend dances in towns and villages across Faroe, draw inspiration from Scandinavian, Scottish and North American folk traditions. Shetlanders will be reacquainted with, or hear for the first time, the music of Kristian Blak (piano and voice), Sharon Weiss (recorder), Erling Olsen (fiddle), Lars Kristensen (fiddle), Ivor Baerentsen (mandolin) and Sven Mortensen (bass).

Expect a rousing evening of music, storytelling and celebration as Spælimenninir bring five decades of touring and musical magic back to Shetland.

These concerts are part of a tour that will take Spælimenninir to Shetland, Scotland and Denmark.
