📣 NOTICE TO PATIENTS 📣

We are aware that following a recent upgrade with our clinical system, EMIS PCS, that prescriptions requested via Patient Access are not being received by the practice.

If you need to request repeat medication in the meantime, please contact the surgery directly on 01595 693201 (Press Option 2).

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while this issue is being resolved.

We will provide further updates as soon as possible.

The next RNID 🦻🏼drop-in session is on 09th October, 10:30-12:00 at the Shetland Library

Additional opening hours are being introduced at the NHS Shetland Walk-In Clinic at Grantfield as the pilot service continues to expand.

From Monday 5 October, the clinic will be open from 12pm to 8pm on weekdays, alongside its existing 9am to 5pm weekend service. Patients are asked not to attend before 12pm on weekdays.

The extended weekday opening hours will provide more opportunities for people to access same-day care for urgent, non-life-threatening health concerns, including during the afternoon and early evening.

Improvement works at Grantfield have now been completed, with the Walk-In Clinic and Vaccination Team returning to the building on Tuesday 22 September following a temporary relocation to the Outpatients Department while the work was undertaken.

The Vaccination Team continues to operate from Grantfield during the week. Patients attending the Walk-In Clinic should therefore only arrive during the advertised walk-in opening hours.

As the building is used by both services, the waiting room may be busy at times and patients attending the Walk-In Clinic may have to wait to be seen. The service operates on a drop-in basis.

During the pilot period, opening days and times may occasionally vary. Patients are encouraged to check the NHS Shetland website and social media channels for the latest information before attending.

The Lerwick GP Practice is closed on Monday 28 September. We will re-open at 8:30am the following day.

For awareness: Monday 28 September is a Public Holiday for NHS Shetland.

👉All mainland health centres will be closed. Patients in Yell, Unst and Whalsay to contact their local practice to check on arrangements.
👉The Walk-In Clinic will be open at Grantfield, 9am - 5pm.
👉All community pharmacies will be open.

🔵If you are ill when your practice is closed and can't wait until it reopens, you should call NHS 24 on 111, if you are registered at a mainland Shetland practice.

NHS Shetland Walk-In Clinic to return to Grantfield

NHS Shetland is pleased to advise patients that, following completion of improvement works, the Walk-In Clinic will return to Grantfield from Tuesday 22 September.

The works at Grantfield have included the addition of a new toilet, an extra clinic room and a number of other improvements designed to enhance the experience for patients using the service.

Before the move back to Grantfield, the clinic will continue to operate from its temporary location at Outpatients at the Gilbert Bain Hospital with the following opening times:

• Friday 18 September: 5pm to 8pm (please do not arrive before 5pm)
• Saturday 19 September: 9am to 5pm
• Sunday 20 September: 9am to 5pm
• Monday 21 September: Closed

As the pilot service continues to develop, opening days and times may occasionally vary. Patients are encouraged to check the NHS Shetland website and social media channels for the latest information and service updates.
