We’re at the EABCT Congress in Brussels, bringing lived experience of gambling harm to an international audience of therapists and mental health professionals.
We’re sharing what gambling harm looks like from the other side of the clinician’s desk – learnings from those who lost their lives to gambling, bereaved families and people in recovery to help professionals understand why and how gambling harms health.

His talk, “Lessons from Lived Experience”, shared learning from families bereaved by gambling-related su***de and people who gambled – and what their experiences can teach us about preventing future harm and deaths.

When football and gambling go hand in hand, the constant advertising can make it hard to stop.
Although you will still see the ads, you know now the truth behind them.
Last week, our Director, James gave evidence before the House of Lords Liaison Committee regarding gambling marketing.
Speaking on behalf of an organisation built by a charity representing bereaved families, James explained how inquests and lived experience testimonies show that non-stop ads and targeted messaging worsen addiction and undermine efforts to stop gambling or recover.
At Chapter One while our core mission focuses on public education, advice & professional training, we fully support an end to gambling advertising to help those currently affected and to protect the next generation.
The truth behind the advertising is that it’s promoting a product that is designed to be addictive.
