💗 Today we had a Pink Party in memory of our fabulous member Karen, who has passed away. We miss Karen so much and wanted to celebrate her life!

⭐️We all spoke about our memories of Karen, some people shared poems they had written, everyone wore something pink or sparkly and we even had a Karen Bingo as she was the biggest bingo fan! Thank you to Tracey and Emily from Good Funeral Company for supporting this day.

🩷 Karen will always be in our hearts and it was lovely to celebrate her life today!

💚Today we have had a brilliant day led by Bertie from TCV. We visited Bridge Community Farms and Port Sunlight.

🌱At Bridge Community Farms we cared for the young trees, cutting the grass from around them, weeding the area and raking it up to put in the compost. We spoke about why trees are important for the enviroment. As the rain came we ran inside to take part in the Pride activities, adding our handprints to the Pride display and decorating cupcakes!

🪲At Port Sunlight we had an afternoon focused on Bugs! This began with a bug hunt, where we were finding all the insects we could as a group. Then we went onto making a large bug hotel! We all got really stuck in and enjoyed a great day, working as a team and helping the enviroment!

💚 Today we went to Poets Park and had a brilliant time at their Engagement Fun Day!

🌱 We visited the Sefton Council stall, where we planted sunflower seeds and the Sefton Primary Care Network where some of us got our Blood Pressure taken. There were also many more amazing stalls including Green Sefton and St Leonards.

👮‍♂️ We loved speaking to the community police officers and some of us even got in the back of the police van.

Thanks to our dedicated Friday litter pickers, for helping to keep beautiful North Park tidy for all it's visitors- and for our party next week! Keep up the good work team 😀! Then a well earned cuppa at the wonderful Gateway cafe - Happy Birthday Gill!

Thanks to Ian and Colin for a brilliant day at Grow Speke 😀. We loved looking round the site, seeing how it had changed since our last visit- and the impact of the very hot dry weather 🌞! Lots of things were ready to harvest- and the bees 🐝 as always were hard at work. Everyone really enjoyed having a go at making bug hotels- which were really impressive- we even had some goodies to take home with us- thanks to the bees- 🐝 😀

Thanks to everyone in Mencap Liverpool and Sefton for making today's wonderful 80th birthday party so much fun! Our day was filled with meeting friends old and new, doing Zumba, singing and dancing and lots of laughter - not to mention some good chats with the local police- and trying the uniform for size! 😀

We've had a brilliant time at the Gateway Collective Garden today! We've baked scrumptious biscuits, sown seeds, planted tomato plants, saved seeds in our own mini envelopes, found out about irrigation systems, 1ft system seed sowing, water saving and the importance of eating seasonal veg and fruit!- And We've had loads of fun! Thank you Ali, Jan and Gill 😀

After taking part in the Bootle Heritage Trail on Thursday, we spent a lovely afternoon sharing memories of Bootle and the people and places that matter to us. 😀

It's been Great to help host the Judges for Bootle in Bloom , when they visited Ash Street Memorial Garden! We were really pleased to tell them how much we are enjoying our Climate Champions Project, how much we love working with the different community groups and how proud we are of the different growing spaces ❤️ 🌼 🌸
The only sad part of today was saying goodbye to Tricia the brilliant student nurse who has been on placement with us. Good luck Tricia!!
