We are uniquely located in central London in the heart of Victoria.

Studio Pottery London is a light-filled and spacious workshop for all who are attracted to making with clay, from absolute beginners to more experienced potters.

Our Director’s Dinner at Lucy’s home, bringing together our wonderful Studio Pottery London members for an evening away from the wheel.

One of the things we love most about SPL is seeing how close our community has become. Our members support and encourage one another, share ideas and knowledge, and constantly push each other to create, experiment and develop their craft.

We spend so much time together in clay-covered overalls that it was rather wonderful to swap them for our finery, raise a glass, have a dance and celebrate the friendships that have grown around the studio.

Because Studio Pottery London has always been about more than making pots. It’s about the people you make them alongside.

International ceramics superstar Linda Bloomfield joins us at Studio Pottery London for a very special two-day Glaze Masterclass, 11–12 October.

There are just a few spaces remaining.

Over the two days, Linda will guide participants through the fascinating possibilities of glaze making. Each participant will choose a base glaze to develop from glossy and matt to crackle and crystalline - before experimenting with colouring oxides and opacifiers to create their own individual range of colours.

An exceptional opportunity to deepen your understanding of glaze chemistry, experiment with colour and surface, and learn directly from one of the leading names in contemporary ceramics.

As part of our journey through Japan this November, we will visit the extraordinary Enoura Observatory, conceived and designed by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto.

Set high above Sagami Bay among former mandarin orange groves, Enoura Observatory is a remarkable synthesis of art, architecture, landscape and Japanese cultural history.

Created by Sugimoto through the Odawara Art Foundation, the site brings together galleries, architectural fragments, gardens and carefully framed views of the sea and sky.

At its heart is Sugimoto’s fascination with time, light and the relationship between humanity and nature. Many of the structures are precisely aligned with the movement of the sun, making the Observatory feel less like a conventional museum and more like an artwork in its own right.

It promises to be one of the highlights of our journey and an extraordinary introduction to the way contemporary Japanese practice can remain deeply connected to landscape, craftsmanship and tradition. If you’d like further information on the trip please email us.

Summer inspiration.

Our glazes are often inspired by nature, people and moments in time. Many are named after places that have shaped us sun-drenched landscapes, quiet coastlines and unforgettable summer holidays.

Paxos, one of our most loved glazes, captures the rich greens and crystalline blues of the Ionian Sea, bringing a little Mediterranean light into the studio.

Every glaze tells a story. Which one will inspire your next piece?

🌕 Voyage to the Moon

Gregory Tingay’s major Voyage to the Moon is a striking coral slip and sgraffito moonjar, combining the quiet presence of the traditional Korean form with Gregory’s highly individual decorative language.

The surface is alive with intricate markings, inviting the eye to travel across the vessel and discover its story. A powerful and contemplative work, Voyage to the Moon was created following Gregory’s artist residency at Hauser & Wirth Somerset last summer.

Now taking pride of place in our window at Studio Pottery London. 🌕
