7 ways to spoil your pup 🐶👇

🎉 London dogs already have the best social life, but for National Dog Day on 26 August it’s entirely about them. Here’s what’s on...

🌯 Market Hall Vauxhall: every dog eats free from 24 to 28 August, with a doggy menu that includes a Doggy Guinness and an A-paw-rol Spritz, plus dog versions of tacos, pizza and steak. Just buy something for yourself and your dog’s dish comes on the house, no booking needed

💚 Lil Luv Dog at Selfridges: US pet brand Lil Luv Dog launches on the Home floor on 25 August, 8.30-10am. There’s lots happening, with free pawtraits and treats up for grabs & tickets are free

🍿 Chiswick Cinema: a special dog-friendly screening of Isle of Dogs is on 25 August

🍜 Noodle & Beer Spitalfields: their Paws & Bowls doggy menu, usually a Sunday-only pop-up worth £15, goes free for the whole day on 26 August

🌮 Los Mochis Notting Hill: a three-course doggy menu running until 28 August (£10), with gluten-free pumpkin and egg biscuits, tacos with grilled chicken liver, doggy caviar and corn tortilla, and a special pupcake. Every penny raised goes to Silver Fox Dog Rescue (love this ❤️)

🥐 Marylebone: The Italian Greyhound and Boxcar Hyde Park are both giving out free Forthglade treats throughout August. We visited The Italian Greyhound earlier this month and loved it 👌

🍹 Control Room B, Battersea Power Station: the Bank Holiday finale on 31 August, 11am-4pm. £15 tickets get you a drink on arrival, an exclusive Control Room B dog collar, treats from Mizu & Co, a goody bag from Creature Comforts Veterinary Clinic and a donation to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, plus an informal dog photography masterclass from Andrew Raven Imagery

What’s on for London dogs in August 🐶👇

🎉 Events: socials, rooftop drinks, dog shows and more running right through the month. August is also the build-up to National Dog Day on the 26th, and there are more events for London pups being confirmed for that, so we’ll share an update closer to the date 👀

🍿 Dog-friendly cinema: Curzon, Picturehouse & Chiswick Cinema have their usual dog-friendly screenings across London, plus Curzon Wimbledon has recently gone dog-friendly, so that’s a new addition to the list. The standout this month has to be Peckham’s Rooftop Cinema Club, running Best in Show and 101 Dalmatians with a dog meetup built into the screening on 16 August (only in London 🤩)

🐶 Walks & meetups: some new ones have popped up this month alongside the regulars. Lovely to see more meetups that are open to all dog breeds happening (Wooftune, Walk With Pawla and the Wisley Gardens walks are open to all breeds)

🗓️ Full calendar with dates, locations and booking links is on thedogvine.com/whats-on (link in bio), updated weekly

Piccolina’s unexpected arthritis diagnosis has taken us weeks to come to terms with. Watching her go from a happy, active dog to hearing that her elbows and hips look like those of a 12-year-old dog was a lot to take in, especially as she’s still young…

It’s not just the diagnosis itself. It’s grieving the lifestyle she would have had, and coming to terms with how much has to change for a dog who still wants to do everything she’s always done 😢

We’re now finding our way through what actually helps her, and what we can let go of worrying about (not easy to not worry about everything I can assure you). It’s still very much work in progress.

We’ll share more as we go, in case any of it’s useful to others navigating something similar. And if your dog has arthritis, we’d love to hear what’s helped yours too ❤️

Full list with info here 🐶🏖️⬇️

As you may have heard us say before…the Isle of Wight is so dog-friendly, and we can’t get enough of it 🤩 Lots of beaches allow dogs year-round with no (or very workable) summer restrictions, and there’s so much to do on the island beyond the beach that’s dog-friendly too ❤️

Many of you asked for a list of beaches where dogs are welcome in Summer, so here are our 7 favourite beaches, tried and tested by us on 10 dog-friendly holidays so far...

📍Priory Bay (East Coast)
Our absolute favourite. Secluded, beautiful, and no restrictions...but we will admit it took us ages to work out how to actually get there 🤦🏻‍♀️

📍 Yaverland Beach (East Coast)
A big beach that’s dog-friendly east of the car park during Summer, with miles of beach when the tide’s out. Watch the tide though, we got caught out here once and spent three hours sat on rocks with Belinha in her beach buggy waiting for it to turn which was an experience 😅

📍 Bembridge Beach & Bembridge Harbour (East Coast)
Dog-friendly all year round and you can walk between Bembridge Lifeboat Station and Bembridge Harbour for a nice walk. One of our favourites (we prefer the Bembridge Harbour end especially when the tide is out)

📍 Compton Bay (South West Coast)
Rugged and dramatic, dog-friendly to the east of the (quite steep) steps down to the beach in Summer. Also known for dinosaur footprint hunting if you fancy it

📍 Appley Beach (East Coast)
Dog-friendly east of Appley Tower in Summer. Very sandy for zoomies and loads of shallow paddling at low tide for dogs who prefer that

📍 Seagrove Bay (East Coast)
Between Seaview and Priory Bay, and dog-friendly all year round

📍 Duver, St Helens (East Coast)
Across the water from Bembridge Harbour. Sand dunes to run in plus a beach walk, sand and shingle mix. More beach at low tide

🏖️ Which beach would you try first? 👇

💁🏻‍♀️ If you want more info on any of these (especially Priory Bay, as it’s a bit hidden), let us know

Dog Days at this London Museum 🐶👇

Most London museums say no to dogs. We found the one that says yes AND celebrates them 🎉

🐕 Did you know the Museum of Illusions in London holds special Dog Days when dogs are welcome through the doors to explore the 70+ mind-bending exhibits alongside their humans…

We climbed Downing Street, got mirrored into infinity, disappeared into a giant pincushion and defied gravity on a London phone box. Piccolina took it all in her stride, mostly wondering what we were doing while we worked out how half of it was even possible 🤯

It’s one of the most different things we’ve done with Piccolina in London, and it really worked our brains! Some of the illusions we couldn’t even get our heads around, but there are illusion experts on hand to help you figure them out. And if you’re going solo with your pup, they’ll even take photos for you, so everyone can get brilliant photos 🤩

And as a lovely touch, 10% of every Dog Day ticket supports rescue dogs at Dogs Trust 💛

✨ Save the dates for the next Dog Days:

🗓️ 13 & 27 September and 25 October
🎟️ Tickets from £21 (dogs go free); walk-ins welcome, booking recommended (link in bio) ⬆️
🎁 Get 10% off tickets with code THEDOGVINE10

📍 15–17 Tottenham Court Road
🚇 2-minute walk from Tottenham Court Road tube

❤️ Share with someone who would enjoy this with their pup and save for your dog-friendly London list
