Instead of being fired in a kiln, these bricks are hardened in a CO2 chamber. During the carbonation process, the CO2 reacts with calcium-containing materials, creating carbonates. This permanent bond creates a hard, limestone-like brick that meets the European standard for ceramic facing bricks.

What the manufacturer confirms:
One tonne of these facing bricks absorbs up to 60kg of CO2 during the curing process.
Only 20% of the brick consists of primary raw materials such as sand, water and any dyes. The remainder comes from mineral residual flows from the steel industry, which are sustainably recycled instead of going to landfill.

The bricks are extremely dimensionally stable and meet strict European ceramic standards.

Embodied carbon on a brick facade is not determined by the unit alone. The substrate, the fixing system and the subframe each carry their own carbon load.
Any meaningful carbon assessment has to look at the complete build-up, not just the face material.

Brick brings design flexibility, durability, minimal maintenance and potential for re-use. What is changing is the carbon intensity of producing the unit itself.

Fire classification documentation for facade systems. BBA certificates, BS EN 13501-1 reports and Approved Document B evidence, supplied with the system.

When the inspector asks for the fire classification, "we think it's compliant" is not an answer. The documentation has to exist, it has to be current, and it has to match the system on the wall. Missing or wrong paperwork stops a sign-off and exposes everyone in the chain to liability. We supply the fire evidence with the system, so compliance is provable, not assumed, at specification and at inspection.
