Which probably explains why I loved the Schiaparelli exhibition so much.
Give me elegance, then make it strange.
Give me something beautiful, then add a detail that makes me stop and stare at it for slightly too long.
I love femininity, but I’ve never been particularly interested in femininity that feels too perfect or predictable.
I like a little drama. A little surrealism. Something unexpected.
Apparently even my definition of pretty needs a personality.
Schiaparelli understood the assignment.

There’s something profoundly disarming about a woman who does not need the room to give her a good time, who does not need a companion to justify the reservation. Who does not need permission to indulge herself completely and without apology.
