SHE’S NOT FALLING APART. SHE’S JUST BEEN HOLDING EVERYTHING TOGETHER FOR TOO LONG.
There’s a kind of exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix.
You still get up.
You still go to work.
You still look after everyone.
You still answer the messages.
You still remember what needs doing.
You still smile when someone asks if you’re okay.
From the outside, you look like you’re coping.
But inside?
You are mentally exhausted.
Psychologically, we can become incredibly good at functioning under prolonged stress. Your brain prioritises what needs to be done, pushes emotions aside and keeps you moving through the responsibilities in front of you.
But functioning isn’t the same as feeling okay.
When your nervous system spends too much time anticipating the next problem, managing other people’s emotions or feeling responsible for keeping everything together, even small things can begin to feel enormous.
You might become irritable over something tiny.
Struggle to make simple decisions.
Feel overwhelmed by noise.
Forget things.
Want everyone to stop needing something from you.
Or find yourself sitting in silence because you genuinely have nothing left to give.
And then comes the guilt.
“Why am I struggling? I normally cope with so much more than this.”
But perhaps that’s exactly the point.
You HAVE been coping with so much. For so long.
Strength isn’t measured by how much discomfort you can tolerate before you finally collapse.
Sometimes the strongest thing a woman can do is recognise:
“I can keep pushing through this… but I shouldn’t have to live in survival mode just because I’ve become good at surviving.”
You deserve a life where you’re not simply strong enough to endure it.
You deserve one where your mind can finally feel safe enough to rest in it. 🤍

Your mind can make a thought feel like a warning.
A possibility feel like a certainty.
A worry feel like something that has already happened.
And when your nervous system is activated, telling yourself to “just stop thinking about it” rarely works.
So hear me:
You are going to be okay. 🤍
Yes, the thoughts are scary.
Yes, you’re worried.
Yes, right now they might feel incredibly real.
But a thought is not a prediction.
You do not have to solve every imaginary future your mind creates.
Sometimes the next step is simply noticing:
“I am having a frightening thought. That doesn’t mean it is happening.”
Let the thought come without following it all the way down the rabbit hole.
Come back to what is actually happening right now.
Breathe.
Ground yourself.
And remember how many times you’ve been convinced you wouldn’t cope with something…
and somehow, you did.
You’re going to get through this too. 🤍

IT’S TIME FOR A DIFFERENT YOU.
Not a “better” you.
A you who no longer abandons herself to keep everyone else happy.
A you who stops overthinking every conversation.
Stops accepting the bare minimum.
Stops feeling guilty for having boundaries.
Stops carrying wounds from people who have already moved on.
Stops shrinking because her growth makes other people uncomfortable.
Maybe you’ve spent years being the strong one.
The mum. The partner. The fixer. The peacekeeper. The one everyone calls when THEY need something.
But somewhere along the way…
Where did YOU go?
True You Lab is about finding her again.
Through psychology, coaching and nervous system healing, we work on the patterns underneath the patterns — so you’re not just telling yourself to “think positive” while your body is still living in survival mode.
You don’t need another year of saying:
“I know what I need to change… I just don’t know why I can’t change it.”
Maybe this is your time.
Different boundaries.
Different patterns.
Different choices.
Different life.
Different you.

“BUT WHAT IF I’M ACTUALLY THE TOXIC ONE?”
If you’ve found yourself asking this after yet another argument, read this carefully.
There’s a pattern that can happen in unhealthy or abusive relationships:
You’re pushed.
Provoked.
Dismissed.
Talked over.
Blamed.
Invalidated.
You try to explain yourself calmly.
It goes nowhere.
Eventually, you REACT.
You shout. You cry. You say things you regret. You completely lose your cool.
And suddenly…
THAT moment becomes the entire story.
Not what happened before it.
Not the repeated behaviour that led up to it.
Just your reaction.
Now you’re being told:
“You’re crazy.”
“You’re always angry.”
“Look at how you behave.”
“You’re the abusive one.”
And before long, you’re so focused on feeling guilty about how you reacted that you’ve stopped questioning what you were reacting to.
This is sometimes called reactive abuse, although “reactive response” can be a more accurate way of describing it.
And here’s the important part:
Understanding WHY you reacted doesn’t mean every reaction is okay.
You can take responsibility for shouting, saying something hurtful or behaving in a way you don’t like…
without accepting responsibility for someone else’s harmful behaviour.
Healing isn’t about learning to tolerate more until you finally stop reacting.
It’s about recognising the pattern earlier, regulating your nervous system, strengthening your boundaries and refusing to keep participating in a cycle that brings out a version of you that you don’t recognise.
Sometimes the question isn’t:
“What’s wrong with me?”
It’s:
“What keeps happening to me before I become this version of myself?” 🤍
Save this for the day you start doubting yourself again.

🚨 WOMAN TO WOMAN: MAYBE YOU DIDN’T BECOME “DIFFICULT”… MAYBE YOU’VE BEEN LIVING IN CHAOS FOR TOO LONG.
You remember the softer version of you.
The woman who was calm.
Gentle.
Playful.
Affectionate.
Peaceful.
And sometimes you wonder where she went.
But peace doesn’t grow in an environment of emotional chaos.
If you’re constantly dealing with unpredictability, conflict, mixed signals, emotional withdrawal or feeling like you have to stay on guard, your nervous system can begin to adapt.
You become more vigilant.
More reactive.
More protective.
And then you start questioning yourself…
“Why am I like this now?”
Maybe the better question is:
“What have I been responding to?”
Because the softest version of you still needs boundaries.
She still needs respect.
And she needs an environment where her nervous system doesn’t constantly feel like it has to protect her.
You cannot expect a flower to bloom beautifully while continually exposing it to a storm. 🌷
Sometimes finding your softness again starts with creating more peace around you — not criticising yourself for how you learned to survive the chaos. 🤍

THE CRUEL PARADOX OF TRAUMA?

The very thing that can help us heal — love and connection — can be the exact thing trauma taught us not to trust. 🤍

Think about that.

You want to feel loved…

but being truly seen feels terrifying.

You crave connection…
but when someone gets too close, you pull away.

You want someone to be there for you…
but you’ve become fiercely independent because relying on people never felt safe.
want to open up…
but vulnerability feels like handing someone the am******on to hurt you.
So you protect yourself.
You shut down.
You detach.
You overthink.
You people-please.
You keep one foot out of the door.
You convince yourself you don’t need anybody.
Not necessarily because you don’t WANT connection…
But because somewhere along the way, your nervous system learned that connection could also mean pain.
And this is part of why therapy and healing can feel so bloody hard.
Healing often asks us to slowly experience the things our protective patterns have spent years helping us avoid:
Trust.
Vulnerability.
Being seen.
Receiving.
Letting someone stay close.
It isn’t simply about understanding what happened to you.
It’s about gradually learning that connection doesn’t always have to end in hurt.
That you can have boundaries AND intimacy.
Independence AND support.
Strength AND softness.
And perhaps one of the hardest parts of healing is allowing yourself to discover that the walls which once protected you…
might now be keeping out the very connection you’ve been longing for. 🤍

A woman can become so good at carrying everything that she forgets she was never supposed to carry it all.”
Read that again. 🤍
Somewhere along the way, so many of us learned that being a “strong woman” meant coping.
Keep going.
Don’t complain.
Look after everyone.
Fix the problem.
Keep the peace.
Be the dependable one.
And whatever you do… don’t fall apart.
So you become incredibly good at functioning while overwhelmed.
You say “I’m fine” when you’re exhausted.
You feel guilty resting because your brain immediately reminds you of everything you should be doing.
And receiving help can somehow feel more uncomfortable than doing everything yourself.
But strength isn’t measured by how much you can endure.
Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is recognise:
I don’t have to live in survival mode anymore.
You can have boundaries.
You can rest without earning it.
You can disappoint people and still be a good person.
You can choose yourself without abandoning everyone else.
And perhaps this next version of you isn’t about becoming stronger.
Perhaps she’s learning that she doesn’t have to be strong all the bloody time. 🤍

🤍 TODAY’S REMINDER: YOU ARE ENOUGH.
You don’t have to have it all figured out yet.
You don’t have to be where you thought you’d be by now.
And you certainly don’t need to rush your life because someone else seems to be further ahead.
Good things take time. 🌱
The life you’re building, the woman you’re becoming, the healing you’re doing, the dreams you’re working towards… they don’t happen overnight.
So today, practise gratitude for the small things.
The morning coffee.
The quiet moment.
The message that made you smile.
A good conversation.
A deep breath.
A body that carried you through another day.
A tiny step forward that nobody else even noticed.
Because sometimes we’re so focused on everything we haven’t achieved yet that we forget to appreciate how far we’ve already come.
You are enough right now.
And you’re still allowed to want more. ✨
Both can be true.
Slow down.
Breathe.
Notice the little things.
Your life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. 🤍
