Today is the Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, where we remember the hundreds of thousands of Roma and Sinti people persecuted and murdered during the N**i era.
On the night of 2 August 1944, 4,300 Roma and Sinti children, women and men were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau. We mark this day every year in order to never forget the suffering and lives that were lost.🕯️

As a child growing up in Romania, Alexandra Bahor hid that she was Roma because of the prejudice she experienced.
Today, she's a Roma activist in Liverpool, using both her lived experience and professional expertise to challenge stereotypes, champion inclusion and inspire the next generation.
For Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month, Alexandra shares why education changed her life, why representation matters, and why she believes meaningful partnership starts with listening.
