Although I wasn’t alive when these legends lifted the World Cup in 1966, I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time with several of them over the years.

One man in particular, Nobby Stiles, had a huge influence on me as my youth and reserve team coach. His passion, humility and love for the game left a lasting impression that I’ll never forget.

Sixty years on, their achievement remains one of the greatest moments in English football history.

Congratulations, gentlemen. You made a nation proud, and your legacy will live on forever. 👏🏻🏆❤️

England 1-2 Argentina: Did Thomas Tuchel's tactics cost England place in World Cup final?

I would say we crumpled…is it a mentality thing? But to throw on defenders when we needed fresh legs in the attacking third I don’t think helped

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England tonight always makes me nervous

Talent is important.

But World Cups are often decided by something else.

Composure.

Discipline.

Mental strength.

When pressure rises, the best teams stay calm.

Good luck England tonight 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Always makes me nervous when England prepare for another important World Cup match tonight, one thing stands out.

International football isn’t won by the team with the most talent.

It’s won by the team that best manages pressure, expectations and key moments.

Throughout my coaching career, I’ve seen talented teams fall short and less talented teams exceed expectations because of one factor:

Mental strength.

At major tournaments, technical and tactical differences are often small. The ability to stay calm, disciplined and focused when the pressure rises can make all the difference.

Good luck to England tonight. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Happy Father’s Day .withe
