Travel adaptors are easily available - but not all are safe, as found in our investigation.
✅ Look for safety approval markings (like CE or UKCA) - but do not rely on these markings as they do not guarantee the product is safe.
⚠️ Avoid cheap adaptors with poor design as they can expose live parts and put you at serious risk of electric shock.🔌⚡

🔋 ⚠️ Spotting the warning signs of a failing battery...
💥 Cracks or visible damage can indicate the battery should no longer be used.
📦 Swelling or a casing that looks like it is pushing apart is a sign the battery is failing.
⚠️ Smoke-like fumes coming from your battery may actually be toxic gases.
🚨 This can indicate thermal runaway, where a fire may already be developing. At which point, you must get out and call the fire services because you won't be able to put that fire due to the ferocity of these fires.

Our investigation uncovered even more dangerous travel adaptors. We tested them and all of them failed basic safety tests, with the worst offenders posing a risk of serious electric shock or worse: electrocution.

Putting anything inside your toaster that isn't food – or submerging it in water to clean it – can cause serious damage, electric shock, or fire.
👉 Keep your toaster safe with these easy tips:
⚡ Always unplug before cleaning.
🧹 Remove the tray, use a brush or gently shake out crumbs – never use water inside or submerge the toaster in water.

Our investigation found all the travel adaptors we tested failed basic safety tests, with the worst offenders posing a risk of serious electric shock or worse: electrocution.
⚠️ Some of the universal travel adaptors allow more than one set of plug pins to be exposed and live at the same time whilst the adaptor is plugged in. 👉 A serious risk of electric shock, but what's worse, it could be fatal if touched with wet hands.
Before you travel, remember to:
- Check your travel adaptors carefully. If it looks like one of these dangerous adaptors shown, stop using it immediately.
- Buy your travel adaptor from a reputable high-street retailer that you know and trust.
