🌊 5 powerful phrases to describe the sea
Want to help your child make their descriptive writing more vivid and engaging?
Instead of relying on simple descriptions such as “the sea was blue” or “the water was beautiful”, encourage them to use carefully chosen verbs and descriptive phrases that help the reader picture the scene.
For example:
🌊 gentle waves lapped against the shore
☀️ sunlight danced across the water
✨ the water sparkled beneath the afternoon sun
Building a bank of descriptive phrases like these can give children ideas and inspiration for their own creative writing, without simply memorising whole sentences.
