CFAB
For more: linktr.ee/cfabuk We also deliver specialised training in the field of international social work.
Children and Families Across Borders (CFAB) is a unique UK-based charity which protects children who have been separated from family members as a consequence of trafficking, abduction, migration, divorce, conflict and asylum. What we do:
CFAB is the only UK charity with an international children’s social work team and the only UK member of the International Social Service (ISS) network. We identify and protect the most vulnerable children who have been separated from their families in complex and often dangerous situations due to conflict, trafficking, migration, family break down or asylum-related issues. Working with partners in 130 countries, we are experts in social work in an international context, cross-border child protection cases, care proceedings requiring cross-border cooperation and overseas placements. As well as offering a wide range of case management services, we run a free national Advice Line to provide guidance and practical support on child protection issues.

‼️The Law Commission is reforming the law for children in care with family overseas‼️
Their proposal will require local authorities to explore overseas family as guardianship options for children in care.
CFAB is supporting this proposal to make sure that children in care can be reunited with their family, no matter where they are from.
Join us in responding YES to this consultation to give every child the opportunity to be supported by their loved ones.

We are excited to share the launch of our new Family Group Decision Making Service! 🎉
This new service supports Local Authorities to keep a child's family at the centre of the decision-making about their care, even where family members live overseas.
These children will be more likely to stay safely cared for within their family network, preventing them from re-entering into the care system.
With this support, children with family across borders can remain connected to the people who love and support them, while ensuring that their family members can contribute to plans for their future 👨👩👧💛

💛💙As part of the ISS international network, CFAB is working to support children and families affected by the crisis in Ukraine. 💙💛
This resource provides guidance on how to apply international standards when working with children and their families impacted by this crisis.
The question to be asked, consistently – whatever decision, action or process – is “what is in the best interests of the child?”
In this guide we apply this key question to complex situations such as intercountry adoptions, children in residential care institutions, surrogacy, and children on the move.

Our advice line is closing early today whilst we consider the Law Commission's Review on Kinship Care.
CFAB is pleased to see that families overseas are being considered in this Review. We hope that the sector will join us in agreeing to the Commission's proposal which requires local authorities to investigate whether a child has any family members abroad who may be suitable prospective special guardians.
Thank you for your understanding whilst we respond to this important Review involving children and families across borders.
