Royal Albert Hall 1969 Programme: Electric Church ⚡

We absolutely love this insert from the 1969 Royal Albert Hall concert programme, where Jimi reflects on belief, music and what he meant by his idea of the “Electric Church.”

“I can’t express myself in easy conversation... But when I get up on stage – well, that’s my whole life. That’s my religion. My music is electric church music, if by ‘church’ you mean ‘religion’.”

It’s such a personal insight into what performing and making music meant to Jimi, and exactly the spirit we wanted to capture with our own Electric Church.

To celebrate 10 years of sharing Hendrix’s London story, and will fill St Pancras Old Church with live music for a very special night inspired by Hendrix’s belief in its power to move and connect people.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Learning Producer to join our Learning & Communities team and help grow our programmes for schools, early years and young people.

Working closely with our Learning & Communities Manager, you'll help deliver inspiring learning experiences, support the launch of our new Early Ears programme, build relationships with schools, and bring the stories of Handel and Hendrix to life through music and creativity.

Hosted by Radio 3’s Georgie Mann, otherwise known as the Classical DJ, the curated music experience will fill all four floors of the museum – and both musician’s homes - with a specially selected playlist inspired by Handel and Hendrix.

Electric Church is back!⚡

Join us for an extra special concert as we're celebrating 10 years of sharing Jimi Hendrix’s London story at Handel Hendrix House!

Featuring Jimi Sessions favourites Marcus Machado and Kimberly Nichole, this co-headline performance brings Hendrix’s vision of the "Electric Church" to life in the atmospheric surroundings of St Pancras Old Church.

At Handel Hendrix House, we have a rare and exciting opportunity to acquire a remarkable painting that offers a fascinating new insight into Handel's world.

This previously unseen work by Gawen Hamilton has apparently never been exhibited, researched or reproduced before. If successful at auction, we will be able to preserve it for future generations and share it through exhibitions and research at the museum.

As an independent charity, we can only acquire objects of this significance with the support of people who believe in preserving our shared cultural heritage.

Every donation, whatever its size, will help us act decisively at auction and give this extraordinary painting the best possible chance of remaining in public hands, rather than disappearing into a private collection.
