We are delighted to introduce Dr Maria Bageta, Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Dermatologist.

Dr Bageta is a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she sees children with a wide range of skin conditions, including complex paediatric dermatology cases. She has a particular interest in eczema, birthmarks, vascular anomalies and conditions that can be difficult to diagnose.

Her clinical interests include:
• Paediatric dermatology
• Eczema
• Skin infections
• Haemangiomas and other vascular anomalies, including strawberry birthmarks and port wine stains
• Birthmarks and vascular malformations
• Undiagnosed rashes
• Genodermatoses, including epidermolysis bullosa and ichthyosis

• Laser treatment for vascular lesions

Dr Bageta combines her clinical work with an active interest in research and has contributed to research and publications in paediatric dermatology, particularly in rare and complex skin conditions. She has also been recognised as a Future Leader in Paediatric Dermatology by the European Society for Paediatric Dermatology.

Her approach is centred around careful assessment, clear communication and providing children and their families with thoughtful, specialist dermatological care.

Dr Cho has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of skin conditions, with particular expertise in skin cancers and the assessment of moles and skin lesions.

🔍 What is Dermoscopy? 🔍

Dermoscopy is a safe, non-invasive technique used by Consultant Dermatologists to examine moles and skin lesions in greater detail. Using a specialised handheld device called a dermatoscope, we can assess structures beneath the surface of the skin that are not visible to the naked eye.

Dermoscopy is completely painless, suitable for all skin types and ages, and is also safe during pregnancy. It plays an important role in the early detection of skin cancer and other skin conditions.
You should consider having your skin checked if you notice:
✔️ A changing mole or lesion
✔️ New or unusual marks on the skin
✔️ Bleeding, itching, or crusting areas
✔️ A lesion that looks different from others
Early assessment provides reassurance and, when needed, allows treatment to begin as early as possible.

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, with around 19,000 new melanoma cases diagnosed every year. Rates have continued to rise over the last decade, making regular skin checks more important than ever.

Now is the perfect time to protect your skin and build healthy sun safety habits.

Too much UV exposure can increase the risk of premature skin ageing and skin cancer — even on cloudy days. Remember to:
