The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) opened for applications on 1 October 2026.

✅ It works by removing certain policy costs from electricity bills

📢 The wider picture: the British Chambers of Commerce welcomed the help for energy-intensive firms but said urgent action is needed for all businesses. Its research found 56% of firms are under pressure to raise prices because of utility costs, and it is calling for the Chancellor to fund 75% of the Renewables Obligation in the Budget.
