โ€œAre we looking at gold the wrong way? Maybe our perspective is changing.โ€

For many years, we have primarily associated gold with jewellery. But the latest figures show an interesting shift.

๐Ÿช™ In Q1 2026, global demand for gold bars and coins increased by 42% year-on-year to 474 tonnes.

๐Ÿ’ At the same time, demand for gold jewellery fell by 23% to 300 tonnes.

The World Gold Council also points to a shift from jewellery towards bars and coins โ€“ gold that people purchase as an investment asset.

And according to a forecast by Metals Focus, physical investment gold could become a larger source of gold demand than jewellery for the first time in 2026.

Perhaps it is not that gold is becoming less of a jewellery product.

Perhaps we are simply starting to see gold differently.

Not only as something we wear.
But also as something we preserve. ๐ŸŸก

Not everything has to be just a number in your bank account. ๐Ÿ’ณ๐Ÿค”

In the previous posts, we looked at why savings and investments are such a big topic in Europe today.

Around โ‚ฌ10 trillion of European household savings remain in bank accounts. Europe is looking for ways to put more of this capital to work in the economy. And from an individual perspective, this raises a perhaps even more important question:

Itโ€™s not enough to ask how much we have. We should also think about what we actually own.

Diversification is not only about returns. It is also about how wealth is distributed and the different forms of ownership.

Physical investment gold is a tangible asset that you can own directly. It is not an answer to everything, nor a replacement for all other investments. But it can be one part of a thoughtfully diversified, long-term approach to wealth.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What do you want to own?

Learn more about why it makes sense to think about the form in which you hold your wealth at ibisingold.com.

Ray Dalio warns of the growing debt risk of the world's largest economies. He recommends that investors reduce their exposure to bonds and hold 10-15% of their portfolio in gold.

Gold is not a liability of any government or any particular currency. That is why it can serve as a diversification and stabilizing element in a portfolio.

๐Ÿ’ก What can an ordinary investor take away from this?

There is no need to copy Ray Dalio's portfolio. His message is more of a reminder that relying on only one asset class may not be ideal.

It may make sense for a client to create their own long-term reserve in gold - regularly and gradually, according to their capabilities and investment horizon.

Because diversification is not about guessing what will happen tomorrow.

It is about being prepared for multiple scenarios. ๐ŸŸก

One thing is clear for now:

Gold has already broken through $4,500.
$4,620 is a new three-month high.
And a third consecutive weekly gain is within reach. ๐ŸŸก

๐Ÿ“†๐Ÿ‘‰ August 15, 1971.
You may never have heard of this date.
Yet it changed the way money works around the world. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

On this day, the United States ended the convertibility of the US dollar into gold.

The world entered a new era โ€“ the era of fiat currencies. ๐Ÿ’ถ๐Ÿ’ต

But why should this matter to you?

Because the money we use every day is more than just numbers in a bank account.
It represents years of your work, your savings and the value you want to preserve for the future.

Monetary systems have changed throughout history.
Their lifespans are measured in decades.

Gold? ๐ŸŒ•
It has served as a store of value for thousands of years.

55 years without the gold standard.
Gold remains.

In the following series, weโ€™ll take a closer look at:
โžก๏ธ what really happened in 1971,
โžก๏ธ why todayโ€™s monetary system came into existence,
โžก๏ธ and why gold remains part of the reserves held by investors and central banks.

Past market cycles remind us that short-term volatility doesnโ€™t necessarily mean the end of a long-term trend. In fact, it often tests investorsโ€™ patience.

History shows that market volatility is nothing new.

During the correction within the major gold bull market between 1974 and 1976:

๐Ÿ“‰ the price of gold fell by approximately 46%.

Many investors believed the bull market was over and sold their positions.

History proved otherwise. The years that followed saw one of the strongest rallies in goldโ€™s history. ๐ŸŒ•๐Ÿ“ˆ

Donโ€™t panic. Donโ€™t react emotionally. Be prepared.

Financial markets change every day.
But the fundamental principles of successful investing remain the same.

โœ”๏ธ Donโ€™t let fear drive your decisions.
โœ”๏ธ Think in years, not days.
โœ”๏ธ Build your wealth steadily over time.

Thatโ€™s why physical investment gold has been part of wealth protection strategies for centuries, helping investors preserve the value of their assets.
