USE YOUR VOICE - Understanding Voting Systems πŸ—³οΈ πŸ—£οΈ

Join the third session in a series of informative meetings - learn how voting systems currently work and how they could be reformed.

Democracy works best when everyone takes part - and voting is just the beginning.

Use Your Voice is a new series of free, thought-provoking conversations designed to help you understand how democracy really works and how you can influence political decisions as an active citizen.

This third session brings together a number of speakers from different organisations.

Together, we’ll examine:

How voting systems work
Why every vote should count and count equally, and why it doesn't
What difference it would make if every vote counted and counted equally
Who has access to the vote
Political literacy around voting systems

Taking place at Kensington Central Library beautiful lecture theatre, the session is designed to be welcoming, accessible and interactive. Audience members are encouraged to engage with the panel, ask questions and share perspectives - but listening is just as welcome.

This event is the third in a free public series focused on citizenship, participation and political empowerment. Whether you’re curious, frustrated, hopeful, or simply want to understand more, this conversation is for you.

Come listen. Come question. Come use your voice. πŸ—£οΈ

The session is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, with no pressure to perform or share, just space to take part at your own pace.

The session will begin with simple introductions and a short insight into Outside Edge Theatre’s work and how drama can support wellbeing. From there, you’ll take part in light, interactive activities before moving into creative writing exercises for reflection and expression.

The session will include:

A short introduction to Outside Edge Theatre Company and their approach
Gentle icebreakers and themed drama-based games
Creative writing exercises inspired by the session activities
A relaxed and supportive group environment
Refreshments and a chance to reflect and connect with others
This is the final session in a three‑session series delivered in partnership with Violet Melchett Health Hub. The series offers space to reflect, share and take part at your own pace in a relaxed group setting.

Join artist Tobias Laurent Belson for an archive and collage workshop as part of the Kelso Cochrane Mosaic Restoration Project.

Kelso Cochrane was a carpenter who migrated from Antigua to Britain in the 1950s. In 1959, he was murdered in a racist attack in North Kensington, and his death became a defining moment in the struggle for racial justice in Britain.

Kelso would have turned 100 this September, and throughout his centenary year we have been working with local schools to share his story and restore the mosaic portrait from his headstone.

Originally created by local artist Alfonso Santana, the mosaic was severely damaged by years of exposure to the weather. As part of its restoration, Tobias is creating a new ceramic frame inspired by North Kensington’s history, including Kelso's life and legacy.

During the workshop, we’ll explore the local archives, create collages and select images to be included in the design of the new frame.
