Participants will receive:
➡️ Training on confidence building, emotional resilience, and healthy coping strategies.

The Academy is an innovative lived-experience led programme which will create credible, recognised leadership pathways for people in prison and on release.
Built on extensive peer research and focus groups the Academy aims to develop resilient, confident, socially aware, and practically skilled leaders who can positively influence their environments, progress into employment, and contribute to systemic change. The Academy will run its first pilot at HMP Peterborough.

Last week, our Public and Patient Voice (PPV) representatives Nathan and David were joined by staff team members Alex and Bess at the Health and Justice Learning Hub's Life Saving Zero Responder film launch.
Access to first aid education and life-saving information has been a consistent theme throughout our work in London prisons. Time and again, people have told us how valuable these skills could be, both in custody and beyond.
We're delighted to see the Health and Justice Learning Hub turn that feedback into such an important resource. It was a privilege to contribute to the script and provide feedback during the review process, helping to ensure the film reflects the realities and needs of people with lived experience.
Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have.

We are really proud of our team members Alex and Jenni for presenting at the National Police and Drug Diversion (PDD) symposium in Sheffield last week.
It was a brilliant day and it was lovely to see all our research colleagues under the same roof again!
Now that we have the evidence that PDD works - it's critical we work together to ensure:
1) Diversion is used much more.
2) Diversion is used equally for all everyone - particularly across different ethnic and socio-economic groups.
3) Interventions are targeted and accessible to all.
The success of this work strongly demonstrates the benefits of lived experience being meaningfully involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of PDD.

Have you read our new Impact Report yet?
Over the past year, we’ve worked with over 8,600 people with lived experience — a growing community of individuals shaping services from the inside out.
But this report isn’t just about the numbers of people we’ve worked with, it’s about people being listened to, finding purpose through effective rehabilitation, and creating change where it’s needed most, leading to an improved justice system for all.
📈 Across our programmes, many participants report increased confidence, improved skills, and a stronger sense of purpose — demonstrating the impact of being meaningfully involved in shaping change.
From prison wings to community programmes, individuals have influenced decisions and rediscovered their sense of value, as well as playing an active role in shaping better justice services:
💬 “I realised my past could have value and purpose.”
