“It hit the right spot.” 🍃

I received these lovely messages after Friday evening’s Deep Rest & Renewal, and they really capture what I hope these workshops offer — time to slow down, reconnect with your body and leave feeling a little more settled.

Despite it being one of the hottest evenings of the year, people left feeling “nice and chilled”, slept well and continued to feel the benefits into the evening and night.

Thank you to everyone who joined me — and to Jane and Mandy for allowing me to share their words. 🤍

Next at Move with Ease — something a little different…

On Friday 18 September, I’m running a small-group introductory TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises®) workshop.

TRE® works with the body’s natural tremor response and offers another body-based way to explore releasing muscular tension, stress and supporting nervous system regulation.

Something cooling is brewing for tomorrow… 🌿🧊

The mint & green tea are cold-brewing and the preparations are underway for Deep Rest & Renewal tomorrow evening.

We’ll explore intention and meditation, self-massage, restorative rest and nurturing touch, gentle movement and fascia flow, before settling into a cooling guided hypnorelaxation.

If two hours of slowing down, softening and being looked after sounds rather lovely right now, there’s still time to join us.

Massage, movement, yoga and deep rest might look like very different things — but in my work, they often overlap.

I recently shared this gentle Z-Sit practice with a clinical massage client experiencing back pain.

Slow breathing combines with a generous arm spiral to mobilise the ribcage and spine, gently lengthen the side body and create space for fuller, easier breaths.

And the fetching spiky “nose” 👃😂? That’s actually one of the massage balls I use for self-massage and fascia movement!

This same kind of movement appears in my Yoga & Fascia Movement classes, my clinical work and my Deep Rest & Renewal workshops.

Because I don’t see massage, movement, breathing and relaxation as completely separate things. They can all offer different ways of helping us move, breathe and feel more at ease.

We’re often told to “just relax.”

But if it were that easy, we’d all be experts at it.

For many people, simply lying down isn’t enough.

The mind keeps thinking.
The body keeps holding on.
Aches and pains become louder.

That’s because deep rest isn’t something we can force.
It’s something we gently cultivate.

During my Deep Rest & Renewal workshops, I don’t simply guide you into a restorative yoga posture and hope relaxation happens.

Instead, I’ll help you prepare for rest.

Together we’ll set an intention. We’ll use cooling breathwork, guided imagery, affirmations, gentle self-massage and restorative yoga to create the conditions for genuine relaxation, before settling into a deeply immersive guided hypnorelaxation.

This is where my approach is a little different.

Drawing on over 20 years’ experience in yoga, clinical massage therapy, fascia movement, breath retraining, mindfulness, TRE®, chronic pain recovery and now mindfulness-based clinical hypnotherapy, I’ve designed this evening to help you experience deep rest in a way that’s gentle, evidence-informed and deeply supportive.

If your summer has left you feeling overwhelmed, tense, overstimulated or simply in need of a pause, I’d love to welcome you.

✨ Another milestone reached! ✨

I’m delighted to have passed my NLP & Ericksonian Hypnosis practitioner module with the UK College of Clinical Hypnosis.

Just one module to go—Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy—and after two years of training, reading, practice and clinical development, I’ll officially be able to add Mindfulness-Based Clinical Hypnotherapist to the ways I support my clients.

Every course I undertake has one purpose: to better support people living with persistent pain, chronic fatigue, anxiety and stress, helping them move towards recovery and greater wellbeing.

Hypnotherapy won’t replace the work I already do—it will become another evidence-informed tool within my integrative approach, alongside Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Clinical & Sports Massage Therapy, breathwork, yoga, mobility & fascia movement, Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®), mindfulness and nervous system regulation.

I’m passionate about continually learning, growing and bringing the very best evidence-informed approaches to the people I work with.

One more assignment to be marked… 🤞

Someone asked me recently, “What actually happens in one of your sessions?”

The honest answer is... it depends.

This client booked a clinical massage (soft tissue therapy) appointment for persistent lower back pain.

But I don’t work from a fixed protocol.

I listen first. I assess what’s going on. Then, with my client’s agreement, we decide together what is most likely to support them.

In this case, that meant combining hands-on therapy with gentle movement and long, soft breathing to help regulate an overwhelmed nervous system while they experienced movement and moderate discomfort.

Rather than simply treating muscles, we were creating an opportunity for the brain and body to experience greater safety.

By the end of the session, they were more relaxed and their pain experience had reduced.

Every person is different. Every session is different.

Whether someone books clinical massage, chronic pain recovery therapy or wellbeing therapy, my aim is always the same: to understand the person in front of me and use the most appropriate evidence-informed approaches to support them.
