Consistency over motivation đȘ

Sometimes you start with rehab⊠and end up buying trail shoes. đ
Dave first came to Easy St through physio, with the initial goal simply being to get himself back out running.
After a successful rehab journey, he made the transition into LIFT CLUB (you may have heard of it) building strength, fitness and confidence alongside his running.
Fast forward a little and Dave has recently completed the Cheshire half marathon, and now the goals are getting considerably bigger.
â°ïž Ultras in 2027⊠apparently. I may have had something to do with it
And if the recent purchase of a pair of trail trainers is anything to go by, Dave seems pretty serious about that last one. đ
What we love about Daveâs journey is that fitness has gone from something focused around getting back from injury to something thatâs opening up what he can actually do and is showing no sign of stopping and all the signs of unlocking his full potential
Thatâs what weâre trying to create at Easy St.
Not just helping you survive day to day.
But building the strength, confidence and capability to take on things you might not have considered possible before.
And occasionally⊠convincing yourself that running 50 miles is a perfectly reasonable idea. đ
Keep pushing, Dave. Ultra next.

Life has been pretty full lately.
Training, work, clients, seeing friends, weekends away, climbing mountains, eating good food, having a few drinks, laughing a lot and probably not getting enough sleep.
And looking back at these photos, I actually really like being busy. Not busy for the sake of being busy, or constantly feeling like I need to be productive. Just having a life that feels full.
Thereâs something quite special about being able to use your body for the things you actually want to do.
To train hard in the gym. To walk up a mountain when your legs are already tired. To spend a day with friends and still have the energy to do something the next morning.
We can sometimes see exercise as another thing we have to fit into an already busy life. But since I knocked running on the head a lot this year ive come to realise that not having the ability to get up and do something hard on a whim is something I never want to face again.
Being strong enough to train, fit enough to climb a mountain and healthy enough to enjoy a full life isnât something I want to take for granted.
And I think thatâs probably what training means to me more than anything now.
Not just looking a certain way or hitting a number. Itâs about being capable.
Capable of doing the hard things, so that when life gives you the opportunity to do the fun things, youâre ready for them. Because sitting down and resting has its place. But thereâs a lot of life to be lived outside of the sofa too. Weâre all tired from life and work. But its time to get your arse up and get at it
HELENâS JOURNEY! THE NEXT CHAPTER đââïž
If youâve been around Easy St for a while, you might remember Helenâs story.
Well⊠weâve got an update.
Helen has now set herself a
BIG new goal. London Marathon 2027. đ
And this time, weâre doing it together.
Helen will be taking on London alongside me, raising money for the amazing EY Foundation.
But before we even think about 26.2 miles around London next April, thereâs another milestone coming first⊠Her first ever half marathon. In just 2 weeks, Helen will be lining up to run 13.1 miles, something that would have seemed a long way away when she first started.
Anyone who knows Helen knows about her ruthless consistency to her training along side a very busy work schedule.
You will find Helen on both sides of the clock here at Easy ST. With her PT session in the AM before work and then pilates & bootcamp in the PM. Because she canât stay away đ
Thereâs been a huge amount of work put in behind the scenes to get her to where she is now. From her strength program with me, her rehab from niggles with & the constant hard work on the weekends to push that little further than she ever has before running.
After the half marathon, Helen is going to clock off for the summer with a well-earned 2-week holiday in Greece đŹđ·âïž before we tackle the main block of training for LDN 27
Training doesnât have to mean being perfect all year round. Enjoy the holiday. Eat the food. Have the drinks. Relax if she can
Then we get back to work.
Because after that, the real target startsâŠ
Letâs see what youâve got, Helen. đ

Slow and steady back to running after a niggle that turned into more than a niggle.
About 4-6 weeks of rehab and Iâm eventually getting back out pain free. It might only be 2km at a time but that is more than I could manage 4 weeks ago while I was hobbling about.
Got to keep moving forward now and get the serious training in ready for LDN Marathon 2027

âYou donât mop the floor when you havenât stopped the leak yetâ
Many of my clients have heard that over the years and 9/10 it hits home because it makes
complete sense when you think about it in terms of fitness/nutrition.
Why are you worrying about the finer details when you havenât got the basics in place.
Why are you concerned about what time you eat when youâre still not in a deficit?
Why are you bothered if you did an extra exercise when your whole workout wasnât intense enough to grow in the first place?
Fix the leak first. Then letâs concentrate on the finer details.
These are the fundamentals you learn when you start training with me. I wonât sell you the next best supplement and sell you lies. I will give you the tools to completely change your understanding on how fitness works

Progress doesnât require perfection. Just keep showing up, doing what you can, and stacking the small wins. Your motivation will always find you again if you keep showing up

POV: You thought you were just doing 3 setsâŠ
Set 1: âMy name is GedâŠâ đ

At least he didnât make set 1 look difficult đ€ŠđŒđ

You donât need to eat as strictly as possible to reach your goals. In fact, for most people, trying to be âperfectâ with food is exactly what makes it harder to get there.
Yes, your nutrition matters. But eating well doesnât mean every meal needs to be perfectly balanced, every calorie needs to be tracked, or that you can never have a takeaway, dessert, a few drinks or a meal out. It means having a way of eating that works with your life, not against it.
đ„© Eat enough protein to support muscle, recovery and keeping you fuller for longer.
đ„Š Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to support your health, digestion, energy and micronutrient intake.
đ Eat enough carbohydrates to fuel your training, performance and day-to-day life.
đ„ Include healthy fats to support overall health and keep your diet satisfying.
đ§ Stay hydrated and make the basics consistent.
And thenâŠ
đ Have the pizza.
đ« Have the chocolate.
đș Have a drink with your mates.
Because those foods donât suddenly undo everything youâve done.
The physical benefits matter.
A balanced, sustainable diet can help you improve body composition, build and maintain muscle, fuel your training, recover better, regulate your appetite and support your overall health.
The mental benefits.
You shouldnât feel guilty because you ate something that wasnât on your âdietâ.
You shouldnât feel like youâve failed because you went out for dinner. You shouldnât spend your week thinking about food, restricting yourself, then eventually overeating because you couldnât maintain the rules youâd created.
And you shouldnât have to choose between making progress and enjoying your life.
The goal is to create an approach to food that you can actually maintain.Because the best diet isnât the one that gets you to your goal fastest.
Itâs the one that gets you there without making you hate the process and gives you the habits to stay there afterwards.
I went out this weekend and ate what people would say is bad, I had a few drinks and enjoyed myself. Then come Monday morning I picked up my routine and got straight back to what I know. Im not in my own head about it. I enjoyed myself and had a great weekend
