Coming up tonight!

Today’s “Strange Brew” includes more examples of double-tracked artists: Mànran , Chris Smither , Freda Leask , Gabriel Moreno -Music and Poetry- , Thea Gilmore and Luke Jackson all get two chances to impress. Alongside them is new-to-the-Brew material from Mia Kelly (from Quebec) and the combined major talents of Mairearad Green and Rachel Newton Music – so good, there’s two from each, too.
Scattered among these independent, genre-free gems you’ll also catch a (virtually) brand new track from John Reed , Duncan Reed Music (with Jo Beth Young ) and some very tempting 60s tracks, not just nostalgic, but brilliant.

Coming up tonight - the launch of a new project re-working folk songs with John Reed and featuring Jo Beth Young

Hear the first song exclusively here along with a bunch of other good music!

This evening’s “Strange Brew” (21.00 Thursday - www.folkfridayradio.com) will continue the practice of “double tracking” individual artists, on the basis that one track is really never enough. So, tonight you will hear 2 from each of Mànran , Chris Smither , Freda Leask , Gabriel Moreno -Music and Poetry- , Jim Moray , Frankie Archer Music and Luke Jackson .
But, as I always say, “There’s more, so much more!” Connected to the double track sections there will also be some single track working (with appropriate token exchange, for us train nerds).
Outstanding among those will be a World Premiere, the first broadcast of “She Moved Through The Fair”, part of an Heritage project being developed by John Reed and Duncan Reed Music , with help from the wonderful voice of Jo Beth Young.
In case you missed it, it starts at 21.00 BST. Two hours of unalloyed musical curiosities, and fun.

11 years ago, a storm on a Scottish island inspired this song…

It has been through various versions over the years but I still love this one. Guitar work beyond my capabilities and epic video by Jamie Massie

Now I have enjoyed a bit of nostalgia, look out for something new this Thursday!

Coming Home - Duncan Reed (Official Video) Coming Home is a song about returning to a place you feel that you belong. It has always been one of my favourites and as it has not yet been released, I am ...
