A painted terrace front in the area we paint stripped the brickwork and stone then removed the carbon restoring the masonry to how it was when it was built.
Due to the paint not letting the brick and stone breathe' and with any moisture trapped, it causes the mortar joints to dry out and perish, in some cases perishes the brick or stone face with it.
We are currently raking out and are going to repoint the full elevation in Lime mortar NHL 3.5, then once everything has dried out we are applying StormDry sealant which is a breathable, color-free masonry protection cream designed to stop penetrating damp in exterior brick and stone.
