Mustard Tree
Combatting Poverty - Preventing Homelessness
21/07/2026
"We can all support the basic human justice of wanting to end rough sleeping. By drawing a clear line in the sand, the Prime Minister has declared that homelessness is not acceptable in our country".
This morning, our CEO Jo represented Mustard Tree and its clients on BBC Breakfast—warmly welcoming new Prime Minister Andy Burnham, responding to his vital call to end rough sleeping, and reflecting on the previous partnerships between the former Mayor and the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sectors.
We believe that everybody needs a home, everybody needs opportunities to earn an income, and everybody will face trouble at some point in our lives. Our charity has spent 30 years working alongside partners across Greater Manchester to combat poverty and prevent homelessness.
While solving this crisis remains a deep and complex challenge, we have an unprecedented, generation-defining opportunity to truly achieve it together.
