We are overjoyed at the response to our Young Writers' Group and that we've been able to provide a space for creative teenagers to come together, create and write.

We're having an unfortunate event here at Chapter One! We seem to be missing number 11 and it's annoying our volunteers.

Lola came to see us recently at Chapter One and was particularly enamoured of the bowl of water and the history section but less keen on our book trolley, which she was suspicious of.
And a literary Lola? Charlie and Lola of course!
Now is the time of year we book addicts become book squirrels, stocking up on reads to get through winter.
Wintering by Katherine May is top of the stash here. It is thoughtful, funny and most beautifully written, an account of the author and her family dealing with difficult times, as she is about to enter her forties.
It kicks off in October so perfect to start reading now and then it finishes in late March. Chapter titles include ghost stories, darkness and cold water.
Opening with the words of poet Edward Thomas and ending with the author reading Dylan Thomas, you get a poetic soul here and with Welshness, too.

Two great writing workshops coming up this week. We love that we're becoming a home for writing of all sorts here at Chapter One.
First up, Lottie will be leading the second session of our new Young Writers' Group for 14 to 17 year olds on Wednesday from 5:30pm to 7pm.

Then on Thursday Rebecca Trick-Walker will begin her three sessions on scriptwriting from 6-8pm.

Meet Pepper who dropped into Chapter One yesterday to say hello.
We were racking our brains to come up with a Pepper from literature and have landed on Pepper Potts, Tony Stark's loyal personal assistant and later a superhero in her own right.

The Book-ish Quiz crowned new winners on Thursday evening! After an interesting trivia wipe-out round, which the quizmaster has promised will make another appearance to the joy of some, consternation of others, The Undecided took home the prize after trying all year.
Former two-time winners The Llangwm Lot get an honourable mention but it was newcomers SalJam who almost upset the apple cart if it hadn't been for the pesky wipeout round.
Good effort SalJam - maybe next time?
Well done to The Undecided. It's about time!
