Catherine Walker, who worked at Nottinghamshire Police, has been jailed after the death of the boy in her care.
The force said an investigation found "clear mistreatment of the boy over a prolonged period of time".

Stone Soup Academy in Nottingham breached numerous rules and used more than £1,200 on alcohol for an event.
The investigation by the Department for Education also found a head teacher had been given a 13.7% pay rise without proper scrutiny or rationale.
School founder Chris Manze said internal controls had been "strengthened" and the trust was working closely with the DfE to ensure compliance.
Those involved in the poor decisions had since left the organisation.

The court heard the officer used AI to create a statement to "make a judge or reader weep" and help secure the highest sentence.
The Court of Appeal has rejected a sentence appeal by a man who threatened his partner with a knife, after it emerged a police officer had used Microsoft Copilot to draft a witness statement.
Jerome Gibson was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court last year.
