🧽 It's been a very busy week this week preparing to move into the new building at Bestwood! Members, Volunteers and Staff have done amazing teamwork moving furniture and equipment!

🖌️ A big thank you to Brewers Decorator Centres for generously donating some paint! This will go a long way to make our walls shine as bright as our Members ✨️

🚌 Other than cleaning and moving, our topic of the week at the training hub has been: Trips!

🛝 Monday Members went on the group trip they organised! We had a great day at Rushcliffe Country Park, exploring the sensory area, identifying birds, enjoying the park and gym, and tucking into an ice cream. A special mention goes to Nathaniel who went down the big slide on his 3rd attempt, very brave!

🍿 Midweek, Members were kindly treated like VIPs at the Arc Cinema Hucknall , with a private screening of Coyote Vs Acme! What a treat!
And we finished Trip week with some disco bowling!

🌻 On Friday, we celebrated Issie's 21st birthday, and even squeezed in Jenga, litter picking and our final task of the week - giving out free flowers in Bestwood! We made lots of people smile☺️

🍝 At Pulp & Prints Coffee Bar , Members have began preparing hot meals for their lunch, kicking off the week with a simple but tasty tuna pasta sauce! We also made some roasted pepper soup and a delicious carrot cake using surplus from JHQ!
Yasmin did a great job making the allergen labels!

🪡 We also learned a new punch and sew skill for our Christmas card designs, ready for later in the year!

💎 The Bestwood team also got crafty with more diamond art at Tuesday's craft club, and confetti making in the afternoons.

And to finish off we'd like to welcome our newest member of staff, Clare! Already a brilliant addition to the team☺️

Super eventful coming up hosted by our friends at Bulwell Forest Garden!

It'll definitely get you in the cosy, autumnal mood ☕🎃

🧑‍🍳 Seed to Plate - cooking on a budget (cooking with our own fresh ingredients and learning tips and tricks to save some pennies)

🧑‍🌾 Gardening in Autumn (there's still veg to sow and things to do in the garden!)

👷 Woodwork Skills (get more confident using different tools and make a bird box to take home)

Lots of great stuff to share this week!

🙋‍♂️ Weekly training topic: "all about me".
We've shared and learned new information about one another while thinking about the safety and considerations when asking and answering questions. We also looked at our Behaviour Framework Policy to understand how we work best together.

We had a fun session designing our perfect days, which was a great insight into our personalities (and we learnt some of us like to watch Christmas films all year round - scandalous!!)

🧽 We've cleaned up - hoovering away dusty corners, wiping down windows and getting the laundry sorted at Pulp & Prints Coffee Bar. We got the cutlery shining and toilets sparkling at Bestwood, and the pots and pans washed and dried at JHQ.

🎨 We've crafted - confetti production at the Hub, Christmas goodies at Pulp & Prints and diamond artwork at Tuesday's craft club.

👨‍🍳 We've baked - A cracking apple pie at Bestwood, and tasty lemon drizzle and banana bread at Pulp & Prints. We also juiced some fruit and packed up plenty of lunches at JHQ.

🪏 We've gardened - Owais and Joey sowed some everlasting sweet pea seeds and planted some succulents at Bestwood. Throughout the week we've watered up and finished off some summer tasks.

💃🕺 We've danced - joining the Impact Dance course to develop our skills to lead dance groups. Lucy, Abigail, Dan and Jessie were amazing and got stuck in!

🤗 And we've brought smiles to faces - we spread a little kindness by handing out flowers to people, and we were delighted to host the WI at Pulp & Prints!

We've been a bit quiet here for the last few weeks due to a technical issue that was out of our hands…

But we can't wait to start baking, brewing and befriending again! 🍰☕💚
