IT’S BACK TO BACK!!!!

Yes, you read that right, TWO Chillacticos wins on the bounce! Things you did not expect to see, but it just shows how far we’ve come as a team!

A superb display from the lads. We played some of the best football we’ve played, racing into a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes. We didn’t make it easy for ourselves, though, letting Staniforth back into the game with it being 5-5 at one point! Chillacticos of times gone by would’ve crumpled, but we showed grit and resilience to battle back in front and win the game 7-6.

In terms of performances, where to start? Hume, McDermott and Maltby was like prime Rice Soucek and Fornals, simply untouchable. Despite conceding 6, our defence was solid, great communication throughout. Then there was our front 3. Mezza on the left was electric. Then you had a Green masterclass on the right, bagging a penalty and showing the other Joe how it’s done. And finally you had Nolan, putting in a classic display, 3 goals, magnificent link up play - why can’t he play every week?!?!

A great result for us, and we look to keep the momentum going with another match next week. 3 on the bounce? Surely not!

Next up in our Meet the Team series, we have the one and only Steve Grady.

Like CR7, he just won’t retire, but unlike the Portuguese National Team we don’t have a problem with that. Our 61 year old winger-fullback hybrid typifies what the Chillacticos is all about - anyone can take part, as Grady has known for the over 11 years he’s been with us.

Grady has an unmatched capacity to shoot from absolutely anywhere, and is in a sense the Anti-Henderson, as he will only pass forward, no matter the situation. Add to that those deceptively long legs, Steve is fun to play with and a menace to play against.

WE WON!!!

Amazing scenes yesterday as we managed to come out on top 3-2 in a thrilling game against Nottingham Lions FC

3 different goalscorers today. It looks like the admin has fallen down the back up striker pecking order as Moran grabbed one from a ball over the top. Hume then scored what is known as a Tom Flynn classic mish*t cross, before Strong got a lovely chipped winner.

Strong could’ve gone one better though - a stunning overhead kick ruled out due to offside!

Special mention has to go though to Smith at the back, who put in a dominant MOTM display getting every single ball clear.

A brilliant win for the lads - onto the next one!

Rounding off the management team part of ‘Meet the Chillacticos’ we have the one and only RJ3, Ryan Jones.

Perhaps our most consistent attendee, RJ3 has never missed an 11s game, will always be there to dap you up and will be at the pub without fail every Wednesday.

Coming back from 2 ACLs is bloody difficult, but RJ3 shows it can be done and should be damn proud of that.

His lobbed through balls are lethal, and with Paternoster’s recent conversion to striker, defences will be quaking in their boots at the duo’s natural chemistry.

Up next is our striker supreme Steve Cobble, who despite being our manager and main striker, many people might not have heard of as he tends to only play 5 minutes a game before puffing out.

That’s okay as in those 5 minutes he tends to score, as he is very good at hitting the ball very hard. One of our longer serving players, when Cobble is on the pitch he is a joy to play with, unless he is on for a hattrick, when you can be sure you won’t receive the ball from him as he adopts the ‘touch and shoot and nothing else’ technique.

Big love to Cobble, who also pitches in at CB when we are losing really badly even for us, as he often contains the only tactical brain cell on our back line.
