We encourage you to have your say by commenting on our social media posts. However, we do have a few rules everyone must follow and will remove posts that don't meet these standards. Monitoring
Although we try to manage the content our social media channels inside office hours, we can't monitor posts 100% of the time. We will remove any content that doesn't fit within our guidelines as soon as we see it. Respecting others
Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated. Anyone making abusive, discriminatory or offensive comments will have them removed and they will be blocked from posting on our channels. Please note any comments implying discrimination will also be removed. No trolling
Where posts or comments are off-topic, insulting or use threatening remarks to upset another user, group of users, or Northern Roots employees and volunteers, they will be removed, and users will be banned from commenting. Strictly no swearing
While you may be passionate about subjects we post about, swearing and offensive language will not be tolerated. Any swearing or offensive language will be removed completely and any repeat offenders will be blocked. Blocking of users

The BIG Welcome is almost here!
We’re opening our doors for the very first time THIS Saturday 19 September and we’d love you all to join us. It’s free to come along and everyone is welcome.

The produce we use is grown just steps away on Snipe Clough Urban Farm by our dedicated team of growers and volunteers, so it’s only right they are the first to taste test the Café.
Our Café menu is curated by award-winning chef Mary-Ellen McTague and hundreds of local people – thank you to everyone who completed our café survey!
Expect refreshing salads, hearty sandwiches, delicious cakes, pastries and drinks and much more, plus a kids menu. We’ll share our full menu soon 🍅🍰☕

We are delighted to have collaborated with Portraits of Recovery on a very special project called ‘If You Could Speak to the World’.
Based in Manchester, Portraits of Recovery is the UK's only visual arts charity supporting people affected by substance use.
If You Could Speak to the World is a site-responsive audio-based walking trail that takes you on a poignant journey through our 160-acre site in . It is part of Recoverist Month 2026, a September-long contemporary arts programme at venues across Greater Manchester and Liverpool.

Developed over a series of participatory workshops led by artist Phillip Davenport and supported by our Natural Health Service team, If You Could Speak to the World has been co-produced by people in recovery living in Oldham.
The work brings together poetry, music and field recordings. It invites audiences to foster deeper connections, with wellbeing, each other and the natural world through walking, listening, memory and place – positioning nature and nurture as art.
Audiences are invited to move through the landscape with these voices as companions: listening, pausing and encountering Northern Roots through stories of resilience, memory and connection. The walks offer an intimate, embodied way to experience art outside of the gallery, where personal histories and ecological attention conjoin in shared acts of listening.
Across and into , the audio trail will be activated via a month-long programme of guided walks led by the people who created it and as part of Northern Roots celebration when we open the doors to a brand-new Welcome Building and Urban Farm on September 19th.
