Say hello to our young mothers at our Skills Training Centre in Sierra Leone. Here they are at art and craft class. The skills learned will help these young girls lift themselves out of poverty, help find employment and improve their families opportunity to access education and healthcare.

In 2025, 1,231 fistula patients received life-changing surgery and rehabilitation through Freedom From Fistula.
Surgery can mean freedom from incontinence, pain & the isolation that so often accompanies the condition.

Our team at the fistula care centre in Malawi have been training the latest cohort of student nurses. Sharing best practice and increasing capacity in country is vital, ensuring women and girls receive the very best care.

Perline is the Operating Theatre Charge Nurse at the Fistula Care Centre in Toamasina.

A proud member of the Antesaka community, she celebrates and preserves the traditions of her region.

During joyful ceremonies and special occasions, she is rarely seen without her sparkling pareo and the traditional “satroky an-dragnon-dreny”, meaning “the hat of the maternal home,” a cherished symbol of cultural identity and family heritage.

In the operating theatre, Perline plays a vital leadership role. She coordinates the theatre team, ensuring that staff, equipment, and surgical preparations are all in place so that every procedure can be carried out safely and efficiently.
