The revised School Exclusion Zone covering roads and streets around Viewlands Primary School, Perth Academy and Fairview School in Perth has been in full operation for just over a month.

The zone is in place to help pupils get to and from school more safely by reducing vehicle movements around schools at the beginning and end of the school day.

Since the revised zone came into operation, our staff have been attending regularly to provide information and monitor how the zone is working in practice.

Unfortunately, on a number of occasions, including this week, they have been met with verbal abuse and aggressive behaviour from a small number of motorists.

We understand that people may have questions or concerns about the new arrangements, but verbal abuse or aggressive behaviour is never acceptable. Our staff should be able to carry out their work without being subjected to this kind of behaviour.

Update: These have now been removed from a number of locations, including South Inch Car Park, South Street Car Park and Hospital Street Car Park. All affected locations have been checked and the stickers removed. As a precaution, we will be carrying out a further inspection of all ticket machines later this afternoon to ensure no additional stickers remain in place.
