Hello friends 🥹
Today feels bittersweet, but after months of wrestling with it, I’ve finally made a decision.
I’m hanging up my G-Shock gloves.
I’ve loved the brand since 1984. I’ve collected the watches for decades, spent the past year creating content around them, built a community of more than 300,000 people, and introduced tens of thousands more to G-Shock along the way.
I never expected anything in return.
But when I eventually reached out to G-Shock’s marketing team simply to explore whether we might work together, I did expect one thing: a reply.
Instead, I was completely ignored — by email and on Instagram.
They owed me nothing, I know that. But after giving so much of my time and passion to the brand, discovering that it apparently wasn’t worth even acknowledging me genuinely changed how I felt.
Around the same time, my MRG — supposedly the pinnacle of G-Shock — spent 10 weeks away for repair, accompanied by repeated promises about when I’d get it back.
Then I watched G-Shock continue partnering with influencers who seemingly had little connection to the brand, while the people who genuinely live and breathe it appeared to be overlooked.
And somewhere along the way, I realised something else.
I don’t really recognise myself in G-Shock’s marketing anymore. The people I meet in this community are ordinary blokes who simply love great watches. Yet so much of the brand seems focused on a version of “street culture” that feels increasingly disconnected from many of the people actually buying them.
I waited before saying any of this because I wanted to know whether the feeling would pass.
It hasn’t.
So this chapter ends here.
But I’m not disappearing forever.
I’ll be back — talking about watches, technology and brands I genuinely love, particularly those that want to engage with the communities and creators who support them.
Thank you to every single person who watched, commented, shared, argued with me, laughed with me and came along for the ride.
It’s been bloody brilliant. ❤️

Camping weekend, so naturally I’ve brought my G-Shocks with sensors and compasses and tough solar, like I’m ever gonna use it, but I feel like Bear Grylls and ready for action 😆

Daily wrist check; G-Shock GPR-H1000 Rangeman in black. The MIP display never gets old 👌

Hottest May Day on record in the UK. It’s roasting. 33oC 🥵. Wearing the G-Shock MR-G G1000, but maybe should have gone for something smaller and lighter in this heat.

Finished.
Casio AE1200 mod — “1987”
Not going to lie, this one nearly broke me. The faceplate alone must have gone through 20+ versions… tiny tweaks, reprints, back to square one, over and over. Getting everything to line up just right while still keeping it clean and readable was way harder than I expected.
But… I think I finally got there.
The goal was simple — something that feels properly 80’s without looking gimmicky. I chose 1987 as it’s my brothers year of birth. Neon, grid, a bit of chaos, but still something Casio could have actually made.
Really happy with how this one turned out.
Would genuinely love to hear what you think.
Video coming very soon!

Daily wrist check. Glorious sunshine for this beautiful bank holiday weekend. And the G-Shock DW-5600MNC with the Fidlock strap feels like the perfect choice. Light, colourful and extremely comfortable. Have a fantastic day guys.

The G-Shock Casio should have made. GW-9500 Mudman in green with positive display mod. Fantastic watch, but the negative display is next to unusable on this model.

I’ve been working on something for us oldies… an 80’s inspired AE1200 mod.
There’s just something about that era — the colours, the films, the music — it all had this bold, unapologetic energy. Neon lights, chrome gradients, late-night city vibes… I wanted to capture a bit of that and bring it into a watch.
The cyan and magenta tones are straight out of that synthwave palette, with the grid and glow pulling from classic retro-futuristic visuals. The idea was simple: make something that feels like it belongs in the 80’s, not just inspired by it.
I’ve called this one 1987.
Would genuinely love to hear what you think. I’ll be putting together a full build video over the next few weeks.

Today’s post is a bit different.
I built this custom AE-1200 for my son — he’s obsessed with Pokémon, and I wanted to make him something that felt like a real-world Pokédex.
It’s got a custom faceplate, black PVD steel case, yellow filter over the top display, and a yellow silicone strap from to tie it all together.
Honestly… this one’s a bit special.
Full build video coming later today 👀
This G-Shock Mudmaster has a hidden feature that can actually guide you back to a location.
Most people don’t even realise it’s there.
Using the compass and Bluetooth connection, the watch locks onto a point and continuously points you back to it — even with no signal.
If you’ve got a G-Shock GWG-B1000, this is one feature you’ll want to try.
