This news article highlights something many of us know all too well. Medication shortages are a reality for far too many people living with epilepsy and the consequences can be devastating. Access to the right medicine, reliably and consistently, should not be a battle. For some families, it already is.

'Drugs that keep me alive are in such low supply I am surviving on child dose' Medication shortages are causing alarm for pharmacists, and their patients - the Mirror speak to two people who are completely reliant on their medications about the dangers of shortages

Many of us turned to medical cannabis, or are fighting for the right to trial it, because conventional antiseizure medications failed us. Sometimes they stopped working. Sometimes the side effects were unbearable. Sometimes both.
Researchers at the University of Liverpool want to understand why some people experience worse side effects than others, and why the same medication affects people so differently. This is research that could genuinely change how antiseizure medications are prescribed and managed in future.
The SEATS study is open to adults (18+) with epilepsy taking antiseizure medication, and to family members or close friends of someone with epilepsy. You do not need to have side effects to take part.
It involves three short online questionnaires over 9 months, taking between 5 and 20 minutes each. Confidential.
If conventional medicines have been part of your journey, this is a way to make that experience count for something.
