Behind the scenes at King Georgeโ€™s Hall ๐Ÿ–ค

Thereโ€™s something especially rewarding about seeing a project develop stage by stage, and King Georgeโ€™s Hall is a great example of that process in action.

The Light Forms team are proudly collaborating with Park Lighting Design, Bowker Building Services and Kingswood Building Services Engineers on this exciting scheme.

We love following the progress to date - with each small stage helping to shape the overall impact of the space and bring the design intent to life.

We canโ€™t wait to see the full transformation come to life so keep your eyes peeled for the completed project on our channels in due course๐Ÿ‘€

Designed for comfort, built for performance ๐Ÿ–ค

The transformation at Baltic Works goes beyond the reception.

Working with Park Lighting Design and Robertson Engineering Services, Light Forms developed a lighting approach that combines architectural, decorative and intelligent lighting across the refurbished building.

In the reception, bespoke Lightplane 2.5 linear create clean architectural lines across the dark ceiling, complemented by a statement neon feature that gives the space a strong visual identity.

The lighting control strategy was also upgraded, with Ex-Or detectors integrated into the existing system across the gym and circulation areas.

Together, these elements create a more cohesive lighting experience โ€“ balancing visual impact, comfort, efficiency and day-to-day functionality throughout the building.

A successful refurbishment is about more than making a space look different โ€“ itโ€™s about making it work better too.

Designed to follow the architecture ๐Ÿข

At Baltic Works in Gateshead, Light Formsโ€™ Lightplane 2.5 plays a central role in the transformation of the buildingโ€™s reception.

Working alongside Park Lighting Design, this solution was selected for its ability to create the precise, uninterrupted lines required across the dark ceiling. Bespoke lengths allow Lightplane 2.5 to follow the geometry of the space, whilst a uniform, low-glare output provides comfortable illumination for visitors and staff.

The result is deliberately understated โ€“ a clean architectural lighting feature that creates definition and visual rhythm without competing with the statement neon feature at the heart of the reception.

Controlled using Casambi, the lighting can also be adapted through different scenes to suit changing activities and requirements.

Precision, flexibility and control โ€“ brought together in one considered lighting scheme.

As part of the refurbishment of Works in Gateshead, Light Forms was appointed by Park Lighting Design on behalf of Robertson Engineering Services to bring a new lighting vision to life.

A key focus was the buildingโ€™s previously basic entrance, with the opportunity to create a reception space that felt more distinctive, welcoming and reflective of the wider refurbishment. At the heart of the space, a statement neon sign creates an immediate focal point above the reception desk, while Light Formsโ€™ Lightplane 2.5 follows the geometry of the dark ceiling with clean, continuous lines of light.

Bespoke lengths allow the fittings to respond precisely to the architecture, creating a lighting feature that feels integrated into the space.

The result is a stronger arrival experience โ€“ using light to introduce identity, define the architecture and create a welcoming first impression.
