Sometimes there isn’t a neat way in.

On this Meadowhead job, the existing cylinder couldn’t be operated normally, so destructive entry was needed before we could get the door sorted properly.

Once access was gained, the damaged cylinder came out and we matched a suitable replacement for the door.

New cylinder fitted.
Door checked.
Lock tested.
Everything working as it should again.

Not every lock problem needs a big complicated repair. Sometimes it’s simply about getting access safely, replacing the failed part and making sure the door is working properly before we leave.

A lot of home security comes down to this:

This role is ideal for someone with experience in door and window fitting, repairs, hinges, hardware, multipoint mechanisms, adjustments, realignment and fault finding.

A proper hinge retrofit on these doors in Balby.

They had the older SFS Estetic hinge setup, so we stripped the old hinges back, removed them and prepared the doors for the new fixing points.

Once everything was lined up, the new SFS Dynamic hinges went on, were adjusted, and both doors were checked.

No need to replace the doors. Just the right conversion for the existing setup. 🔧

If you’re having to push a window shut or the handle suddenly feels harder to move, don’t just keep forcing it.

The hinges may be worn and the window might not be sitting properly in the frame anymore.

That small change can leave gaps, let draughts and outside noise through, and stop the locking points lining up properly.

Then every time you force the handle, you’re putting more strain on the locking mechanism too.

Sometimes the window itself is absolutely fine. It just needs the hinges, alignment or locking gear sorting out.

Worth checking before a smaller repair turns into something more expensive.

This top opener in Bradford wasn’t closing properly, so we took it out and had a proper look at what was going on.

The friction hinges were replaced, the locking gear was sorted, then the sash was refitted, lined up and tested.

Back in place and opening and closing as it should.

A nice straightforward mortice lock upgrade in Sheffield.

The door had an older 3-lever mortice fitted, so we swapped it out for a 5-lever lock.

The existing handles could stay, the keep needed changing to suit the new lock, and once everything was back together we checked the door and made sure it was all working properly.

Old lock out. Better setup in. Job done.

A lot of weak points around a home don’t look like weak points.

They’re just things we do because they’re convenient.

A spare key under a pot.
A code that’s been shared with a few people over the years.
The side gate left open because everyone uses it.
The garage treated like it’s somehow separate from the rest of the house.

None of that feels like a big deal at the time.

The problem is, access can build up quietly. Keys get copied. Codes get passed on. People stop needing access, but nobody thinks to change anything.

You don’t need to make your home awkward to live in.

Just check the basics every now and then. Who has a key? Who knows the code? Are the gates actually being shut? Is the garage as secure as the front door?

Simple stuff, but it matters.
