Why are grown-ups spending Ā£billions on toys for themselves? š¤©
The āKidultā Economy is booming, and itās about WAY more than grown-ups buying toys. š§ø
From food & drink to toys and plushies, fashion accessories like bag charms, beauty with playful themes and packaging, homeware and collectables - kidult culture is showing up everywhere.
Fuelled by nostalgia, joy, collectability, community and experience, itās creating serious commercial opportunities, and brands like Jellycat are showing exactly how itās done.
The lesson? Products and experiences people want to discover, collect, share and come back for.
So tell me⦠are you a big kid at heart? And what canāt you resist buying? š

We all want thriving high streets with the right mix of businesses, so I totally get the ambition, and Iām all for it.
Over the past few months, Iāve spent a lot of time walking high streets and talking to independent businesses about what makes some town centres work better than others.
One thing is clear: successful high streets start with people and businesses.
Peopleās behaviours have changed, and the best high streets have evolved with them - offering the mix of businesses people actually want and need.
But the commercial reality is tough. Many independents have lost confidence and the cost of doing business is eye-wateringly high.
When VAT, business rates and employment costs and more bite into profit and cash flow, businesses donāt necessarily need another government-backed loan, or a short-term handout, they need the environment that gives them confidence and headroom to invest and grow.
And if this post suggests that councils might have greater control over who landlords can let to, what happens when councils say no?
Does the business we want instead magically appear, or does another unit stay empty?
I hope any new powers come with a real understanding of what local people want from their high streets and what businesses need from government to open, survive and thrive there.
What do you think - should we focus more on controlling what we donāt want on our high streets, or enabling more of what we do want?

A biscuit shop shouldnāt be this memorable... but thatās exactly the point. šŖ
A visit to the Biscuitorium at Fortnum & Mason reminded me that the best retailers donāt just sell products - they create experiences! š¤©
From the Biscuit Library to the Dunkipedia, every detail has been designed to encourage customers to slow down, explore, discover and talk about what theyāve seen.
Itās a brilliant reminder that storytelling isnāt just something you do on social media. It should be woven into your shop, your pop-up, your trade show stand and every customer touchpoint.
Whether you sell candles, jewellery, stationery, skincare or food, ask yourself:
Are you simply displaying products... or are you creating a destination people want to experience?
Have you been to to see this yet?
Iād love to know, whatās the best retail experience youāve had recently? š
