Business as usual at The Railway Bar!

🍺 OPEN TODAY FROM 4PM!

Work is ongoing on Railway Street, but it’s business as usual at the Railway Bar.

We’re open from 4pm today — don’t let the roadworks put you off!

🍻 See you at the Railway!

The end of an era.
What an extraordinary family business and journey from 1929 to the present day. Love Strabane wishes Billy Wilson every happiness in his retirement.💛

THE END OF AN EXTRAORDINARY LOCAL STRABANE JOURNEY

Today really is the end of an era for Strabane - Billy Wilson has retired!

After almost a century, three generations of the Wilson family and a lifetime of hard work, Wilson’s Dental closes its doors.

It is an extraordinary local story.

Started by Billy’s grandfather, William James Wilson, in 1929, carried on by his father, and then by Billy himself, who joined the family business in 1976 at just 16 years of age.

Three generations. One family. Almost 100 years serving Strabane and its people.

For the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of being Billy’s neighbour on Church Street. And one thing I can say is, it never stopped. Billy was always there, working away. Day after day, year after year.

He is a real gentleman. Hardworking, decent, unassuming and someone who has given an enormous part of his life to his work and to our town.

I know the decision to retire wasn’t an easy one. When a business has been part of your family for three generations, you’re not simply closing the door on a job. You’re closing the door on a huge chapter of your family’s life.

But sometimes we all need reminded that life is for living too, and after 50 years, Billy, his wife a d family has certainly earned the priceless opportunity to enjoy it.

I wish Billy, his wife and all the Wilson family a long, healthy, happy and prosperous retirement, with many good years ahead together.

And I simply want to say thank you the Wilsons!

Thank you to Billy. Thank you to his father and grandfather before him. Thank you to the Wilson family for everything they have contributed to Strabane over three generations.

Some businesses are more than just businesses. They become part of the fabric of a town. Wilson’s is part of the fabric of Strabane.

The doors may close today, but nearly a century of service, hard work and family tradition will not be forgotten.

Enjoy your retirement, Billy. You’ve more than earned it.
