Tackling Sober October? You don't have to skip the pub!

We’ve restocked and expanded our alcohol-free selection across the fridge all month long so you can still enjoy a top-tier craft b**r while avoiding alcohol.

Featured this week: Sans - Citra + Nectaron by Track from Manchester. A super hazy fruit bomb from one of Manchester's finest.

Our bottles of German l***r have been flying off the shelves, so we’ve reloaded the fridge with another box of Tegernseer Hell!

Crisp, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Plus, b**r lovers take note: the Export version is heading our way and will be joining the fridge lineup in the coming weeks.

Grab a bottle before this batch disappears again!

For anyone who appreciates world class craft brewing, this showcase is for you. We are hosting an exclusive tasting featuring Chicago's premier independent brewery, Hop Butcher for the World.

Taking their name from Carl Sandburg's famous 1914 poem Chicago (which dubbed the city "Hog Butcher for the World"), they are renowned for precision hop selection, soft water profiling, and yeast strains that elevate IPAs to their absolute peak.

Your ticket includes a third of a pint of all five b**rs on the menu, offering a chance to compare traditional hop pellets with cutting edge concentrated extracts in a relaxed setting.

The Lineup:

Teetering Wooden Crates of Limes (5.0% Extra Pale Ale)
Hops: Motueka, HPA 065
A light Extra Pale Ale where New Zealand Motueka brings crushed lime zest, complemented by experimental Australian hop HPA 065 for grapefruit and stone fruit notes.

Meet the Nectarons (6.5% IPA)
Hops: Nectaron
A single hop showcase dedicated to Nectaron, one of New Zealand's most sought after varieties. Expect layered aromatics of passion fruit, ripe peach, and pink grapefruit.

Cali Cool (7.0% IPA)
Hops: Citra, Centennial, Waimea
A bridge between classic West Coast pine resin and soft tropical fruitiness, pairing Centennial depth with bold Citra and sharp citrus notes from Waimea.

Reply Hazy Try Again (7.5% Double IPA)
Hops: Citra, Motueka, Simcoe
A textured hazy Double IPA with a silky oat and wheat body, blending berry depth from Simcoe, lush mango from Citra, and fresh lime peel from Motueka.

Wandertone (8.0% Double IPA)

This is Holy Ghost. A 10% Triple IPA and the amplified version of Parish Brewing's highly celebrated Ghost in the Machine.

We have secured a small allocation of this rare American import. It will serve as the grand finale of our Parish tasting event next Sunday, 11th October, starting at 2pm.

Parish are widely regarded for producing some of the best IPAs and heavy stouts in the world. Next weekend, we are pouring six of their most coveted releases in a relaxed, curated tasting.

These b**rs carry serious weight, so we are pacing the afternoon perfectly. We will pour a carefully balanced mix of third pint measures and 125ml tasting glasses, allowing you to enjoy the full depth of these massive b**rs comfortably alongside premium snacks.

Tickets are £30 per person. Spaces are strictly limited to keep the room comfortable. Send us a direct message to secure yours.

We see a lot of creative people coming through the pub, so we always appreciate seeing breweries collaborate with cultural institutions to promote the arts. Verdant, Track, and Beak have teamed up to brew a special release for the third instalment of PAGES, an event at the Tate Modern celebrating independent publishing and craft brewing.

With three masters of the hazy IPA working together, the result is bound to be great. Pages #3 is a 6.5% IPA brewed with a heavy addition of Citra, Galaxy, and Riwaka hops. This combination delivers clear notes of passionfruit, white grape, tropical fruit, and pine. As you would expect from this particular lineup of breweries, the b**r finishes with a highly smooth and thick mouthfeel. It is available in the fridge now. Vegan.

Today is the first day of October, and it is definitely starting to feel a bit more autumnal. A red b**r always feels like the perfect match for this shift in the weather. We have just added a new red session IPA to the fridge from Bristol B**r Factory. Redbird Days is a 4.2% b**r built on a solid foundation of Cara Red and rye malts to create an earthy caramel profile. It is fermented with Kveik, which is a traditional Norwegian farmhouse yeast known for fermenting at unusually high temperatures to produce distinct fruity notes of nectarine. To balance this sweet stone fruit character, the brewery used a classic trio of US West Coast hops. Amarillo, Simcoe, and Cascade work together to bring out a crisp pine and citrus finish. It is available in the fridge now. Gluten free and vegan.

Join us for our pub quiz. Entry is £2 per person, with a maximum of six people per team, and the winning team takes the entire pot.

The format features three spins of our quiz wheel, which includes a General Knowledge round, a Picture round, and an Audio round.
All of our quizzes are entirely written and produced by ourselves. We don't get an outside company in to write it; instead, you get the direct results of the chaos of mine and Kat's brains. It makes for a highly original quiz with ideas you simply won't see normally at other pubs.

Autumn really is our absolute favourite time of the year for running the pub. The football season is in full swing, there is a lovely buzz as people start getting excited for Christmas, and those darker, more traditional ales absolutely fly out. There is a magic to the pub at this time of year, and we just love it. To celebrate the very best of the season, we are so incredibly excited to invite you to our second Halloween and Harvest B**r Festival, kicking off on the 30th of October.

We couldn't be more thrilled with the reputation for cask b**r we've built during our time in Watford. Real ale is our passion, and seeing younger drinkers and new faces discover a love for a proper pint is deeply rewarding. Hosting festivals like this gives us a wonderful opportunity to share that passion and pour exceptional b**rs for everyone.

For the festival, all four of our handpumps will be dedicated to rotating a handpicked selection of roughly eight casks. Our line-up is crafted to reflect the best of the harvest season, featuring:
- Four crisp green hop ales
- Two rich, comforting autumnal bitters or red ales
- A spiced dark pumpkin b**r
- An additional dark ale to complete the selection

If you've yet to taste a green hop ale, you’re in for a treat! Available exclusively during harvest time, these b**rs are the ultimate seasonal highlight. Rather than relying on dried hop cones, brewers incorporate fresh, wet hops harvested straight from the bine; often within just a few hours of picking. The result is an extraordinarily vibrant, fresh flavour profile that can't be replicated at any other time of year.

While the final tap list is still being confirmed, here are a few highlight casks we've already got on order and can't wait to serve:

- Verdant: A fresh Green Hop Ale (full name coming soon).
- Left Handed Giant: Another Green Hop Ale (name tbc)
- Elusive: Carvin' Yams, a rich and indulgent pumpkin spice porter perfect for the season.

Putting on these events is an absolute highlight for us. Wrap up (I'll definitely still be wearing shorts), pop down, and raise a glass with us to celebrate our favourite time of year.
