Ten minutes. That's all it takes to be part of a world record.
On Thursday 8th October, the National Literacy Trust and the British Council are attempting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most people reading online in 12 hours. People will be taking part all over the world.
Here's what you actually do. Sign up, join a free online session, listen to a few authors, then read for ten minutes. Anything you like. To yourself. That's it — you're part of the record.
Sessions run all day for every age group, so it works for the whole family. Do it with your children, with your grandchildren, with your book group, or on your own with a brew.
Read Easy Wolverhampton will be taking part, and so will Read Easy UKWe'd love you with us.
👉 Sign up here: https://literacytrust.org.uk/events/take-10-record-attempt/
One thing worth knowing — National Literacy Trust will email your joining link and it can take up to 48 hours to arrive, so sign up today rather than Wednesday night.
And please share this one. Ten minutes is a small ask, and the more of us reading at the same moment, the bigger the record gets.

Today we're saying a very proud goodbye to Sharanpreet.
Sharanpreet has been one of our reading coaches here in Wolverhampton, and she's leaving us to study at Oxford University. We asked what her time with us had been like, and she put it better than we could:
"Working with Read Easy on my gap year has been a wonderful experience. It's a great opportunity to give your gap year some structure, as you meet with your reader weekly, without being overbearing. It's also a chance to work independently (one-to-one) whilst still having support around you. You build good relationships with your reader and the Read Easy community, a welcoming and warm group."
Thank you for everything, Sharanpreet. Oxford are lucky to have you.
If you're on a gap year, at university, or between things, this is what it looks like. We train you, we support you, and you get to watch someone's world get bigger.

"I don't think anybody could ever imagine what it's like to go through life without being able to read."
Those are the words of an adult reader supported by Read Easy.
Not being able to read isn't only about books. It's the appointment letter you can't check. The form you take home and never bring back. The quiet work of covering it up, every day, for years.
Read Easy Wolverhampton offers free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching to adults — from a trained volunteer, at your own pace, starting wherever you are.
If that's you or someone you care about, get in touch: [email protected].

Today is International Literacy Day.
Imagine a day without reading. No medicine labels. No street signs. No bank balance. No bedtime story with your grandchild.
Around 2.4 million adults in England struggle to read – and many have spent a lifetime quietly finding ways around it.
At Read Easy Wolverhampton we offer free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching to adults, from trained volunteers, at a pace that suits them. No classrooms. No judgement. Just one person helping another.
Read Easy UK have put it beautifully in their new blog:

Could you help? We're always looking for volunteer coaches here in Wolverhampton – and simply sharing this post could reach someone who's been waiting years to ask.

So sad to see the passing of Dolly Parton. Not only a fabulous star but an advocate of reading. Her own father could not read, so she was determined to make sure children got books by donating millions of them via her Imagination Library. What an amazing woman!
RIP Dolly ❤️
