Include Me TOO are proud to join over 50 charities and organisations from across the disability and children’s sectors calling on the Prime Minister to act on disabled children’s social care.

The Law Commission has set out recommendations that could create a simpler, fairer system centred on disabled children and their families.

Now we need the Government to act.

Too many disabled children and families are being let down by a social care system that is confusing, inconsistent and too often absent when they need it most.

The Law Commission has set out recommendations that offer a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a simpler, fairer system centred on children and families.

📢 Further delay has consequences
Families are struggling now, and the Government needs to set out how and when it will implement the recommendations.

Our charity provides a range of support and advocacy to disabled children, young people and their families from diverse range of backgrounds, particularly Black, South Asian and Minoritised Ethnic and marginalised communities. Supporting access to services, information, advocacy and resources towards good lives, better futures access to opportunities and improving quality of both community and family life.

IM2 deliver specialist projects ranging from inclusive engagement, meaningful participation, accessible fun activities, to providing advocacy, training, peer support and outreach family support.

Advocacy and Projects Support Coordinator

The Advocacy and Projects Support Coordinator role combines direct advocacy and family support with wider organisational projects coordination, including supporting families to navigate SEND processes and access appropriate services and financial support, community outreach, and engagement.

The SEND Family Advocacy Support Worker will support families with SEND children to access the right information, and empower parents and carers by increasing their skills and knowledge to advocate and navigate the complex SEND system.

Include Me TOO, Black SEN Mamas and South Asian SEN Mamas have organised an important event for parents and carers from our diverse SEND communities regarding the SEND Reforms impact on Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children, young people and their families.

Despite the growing evidence of racial disparity in SEND, particularly as far as being disproportionately impacted by inequality, barriers to support, exclusion and lack of representation, Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people are STILL being overlooked within conversations around SEND reform.

Following the joint letter to DfE requesting an extension for the SEND Reforms this event will is an important conversation on the impact of SEND reforms on our communities and why our voices must be heard within the future of SEND policy and provision.

This is an interactive virtual event, aimed at ensuring the voices from racisalised communities are being platformed, in conversations surrounding SEND. We strongly encourage SEND parents/carers, teachers, specialists and allies to attend.
We aim to explore what can we do collectively to influence better futures for our Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people.

Discussions will cover:

➡️ Do the SEND reforms risk disproportionately affecting Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people?

➡️ Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people have faced inequality within the SEND system what needs to change
