Dolphin Computer Access attended the conference at the University of Surrey, which brought together professionals from education, SEND, assistive technology and inclusive AI.

The keynote sessions, panel discussions and workshops explored how access, confidence and independence can be built into learning from the beginning. Topics ranged from digital independence and inclusive practice to curriculum, careers and future pathways.

When did you last have your eyes tested?

National Eye Health Week, taking place from 21 to 27 September, encourages us all to look after our eyes, attend regular sight tests and remind our friends, family and colleagues to do the same.

At Dolphin Computer Access, we support our employees’ eye health by providing annual eyesight tests for display screen equipment users and contributing towards glasses required specifically for screen-based work.

Every day, 250 people in the UK start to lose their sight, highlighting the importance of looking after our eye health. (RNIB)

Regular sight tests can help identify changes in our vision. If you’re due an appointment or cannot remember when you last had your eyes tested, now is a good time to get it booked in.

This week is National Inclusion Week 2026, a chance to reflect on how we can make workplaces, education and everyday experiences more inclusive for everyone.

The theme 'Build Trust. Navigate Change', encourages organisations and individuals to create environments where people feel supported, valued and able to contribute.

Supporting SENCOs Without Adding to Workloads

SENCOs are supporting increasing numbers of learners with different literacy and accessibility needs, often with limited time and resources.

According to the SENsible SENCO Pay and Conditions Survey 2026, which involved 423 SENCOs in England, 82.5% had considered leaving the role because of pay or workload, while 51.5% said it was not sustainable long term in their current setting.

Providing personalised reading support across a school can increase pressure on SENCOs and teaching staff.
