🤔 **Is your child finding it tricky to count syllables?**

Try this simple Funics tip:

Place one hand gently underneath the chin and say the word slowly. Each time the jaw moves down and touches the hand, you are feeling another syllable.

Try it with:

🐶 dog
🐯 ti-ger
🦖 di-no-saur
🐛 cat-er-pill-ar

This gives children a physical way to **feel** what their ears are listening for.

You can then clap, stamp or jump the syllables to make it even more memorable!

👏 Can your child hear the beats in a word?

These beats are called syllables.
🐱 Cat = 1 syllable
🍎 Ap-ple = 2 syllables
🐘 El-e-phant = 3 syllables

Hearing syllables helps younger children recognise that words can be broken into smaller parts. As children get older, dividing longer words into syllables can also make them easier to read and spell.

Try clapping, tapping, jumping or stomping each beat. Learning doesn’t have to happen while sitting at a table!

Shared in case anyone sees him. Apparently missing from the play park at the top of Decoy

Please can everyone keep an eye out for a little 3 year old boy in Brantham and if you’re not local, consider sharing the below image. He has curly ginger hair and is non verbal, partially deaf and autistic.

He has been missing since 3pm yesterday and police are involved.

Please make sure to take care on the roads as he has no road sense.
