🖋️I signed a letter with 105 fellow Labour MPs, urging the PM to increase statutory paternity leave ahead of next month's Budget.
Two weeks' leave, paid at less than half the living wage, isn't good enough. Too many dads can't afford to take the time they're entitled to with their newborns.
We're calling for six weeks at 90% pay.
Good for families, good for growth.👶

Andrew Ranger MP on Michael Sheen’s documentary 'Buried' and Monsanto Ruabon plant Michael Sheen’s documentary “Buried” shone a light on what communities surrounding the Monsanto Ruabon plant had been raising for many years.
I met with the Secretary of State Pat McFadden earlier this week.
We discussed the imminent Milburn Review, and its initial findings and how we can achieve the whole system changes needed to tackle this NEET crisis.
I look forward to continuing to work with the Secretary of State and colleagues across government to turn that ambition into action

Welcome news about business rates from the Welsh Government this morning following the Prime Minister's announcement in England in July.
I wrote to the Cabinet Minister for Finance in July and also signed a letter along with other Welsh MPs asking for the consequential funding and a multi year settlement.
I know it will give much needed support to small and medium sized hospitality businesses on our high streets and mean they can compete with businesses over the border.
Welsh pubs, cafes, restaurants and hotels to get business rates cut The major discount for small and medium operators will be funded by an increase for supermarkets, other large retailers, and big hotels

The Prime Minister has shared the sad news regarding the death of his father Roy today. He has spoken about how his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis has influenced his own thinking around social care. I know this experience is one that many share.
My thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family.
Andy Burnham cancels engagements after death of father Burnham has previously said his father did not know he had become prime minister due to his Alzheimer's.
