🌤️⛰️ A windy weekend adventure!

Sarah and Katherine from our Grants Team swapped funding applications for walking boots last weekend and took on Pen-y-Ghent.

There was sunshine, spectacular views, plenty of wind, some low cloud and, at one point, a lot of rain. Thankfully, spirits remained high (helped in no small part by lunch, see happy photo below!).

One of the highlights was a visit to Hull Pot, where they found themselves fascinated by the wonderfully quirky hydrology of the Yorkshire Dales' karst landscape. They were convinced a sinkhole part way up Hull Pot Beck was sending water to a waterfall halfway down the wall of the Pot, rather than where you'd expect the stream to enter. Apparently, nature doesn't always follow the obvious route!

A great day out, even if Pen-y-Ghent definitely lived up to its reputation as the "Hill of the Winds"!

Earlier this month, the Two Ridings team had a great day at the Hull Funding & Finance Fair.

We were wearing several hats throughout the day, but all with the same goal: helping local organisations access the support they need to make a difference.

Thomas and Sarah spent the day on our stand chatting with community groups about funding opportunities and connecting with fellow funders. Our CEO, Celia, also joined panel discussions, sharing reflections on the opportunities and challenges facing the sector, from the wider political landscape to the importance of community support, good governance and long-term sustainability.

Meanwhile, Anna was out and about in her new role with HEY Confident Futures, catching up with familiar faces and making new connections.

One of the highlights was hearing from organisations we've supported, including Bora Shabaa and The Peel Project, about the impact funding has had in their communities. Those conversations are always a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share their ideas, challenges and successes with us.

Leaders from across Hull and East Yorkshire came together last week for a Walk and Talk at Bridgehead in Hessle; it was part of HEY Confident Futures’ monthly Connect and Collaborate session.

The group spent time getting to know each other, sharing what they’re working on, and talking about the realities of leading in our VCSE communities. It was simply a space to connect, swap ideas and explore where collaboration might be useful.

HEY Confident Futures is a free leadership network for anyone working in the voluntary, community or social enterprise sector in Hull and East Yorkshire. It’s a place to meet people, build confidence and feel part of a wider community of leaders.

If you’re involved in charity, community or creative work and haven’t joined yet, now’s a good time.

Membership is free and takes two minutes.
