About Ghana Code Club

Ghana Code Club empowers the next generation of tech leaders!

Through coding, robotics, and digital skills training, we equip kids and young people across Ghana with the tools they need to innovate and thrive in the digital world. Ghana Code Club is a non-profit committed to exposing all elementary school kids especially the girl child to computer science activities in Ghana. Children between the ages of 5-17 gain basic computing skills while learning to make their own games, animations and build their own websites. Our team move from school to school, libraries, community centers organizing after school coding sessions while training interested teachers to continue with club activities from that school, We provide project guide and materials needed to make each session fun. Club sessions are scheduled to run at least once a week for not more than 2hrs. Healthy Career Initiative, a Non Governmental Organization registered in Ghana are the organizers of the Code Clubs.

This is Wa School of the Blind Digital Centre built by Ecobank Ghana PLC as part of their digital inclusive program. The center is equipped with computers and assistive technologies that enable visually impaired learners to participate in digital learning.

Ghana Code Club is grateful for the opportunity to support the teachers and students with practical digital-skills training and help ensure that this investment continues to create real impact. In collaboration with Katis Training Institute, we began training teachers and students with basic computing skills.

Since 2018, Ghana Code Club has proudly supported the Girls in ICT journey, and this year we joined ATC Ghana once again to empower 100 outstanding beneficiaries with Coding, AI, Robotics, Climate Action and STEM problem-solving skills. 🚀❤️

We’re concluding our teacher training in Swedru, Central Region, and this week, we move to Wa, Upper West Region.

More and more non-ICT teachers — many of them women — are gaining the confidence and practical skills to use AI, unplugged coding and digital tools in their classrooms.

Our central regional Cordinator, Dennis Badzi is making sure that these teachers trained also lead our Code Clubs across the Central Region, using simple step-by-step project guides to help students learn by creating, experimenting and solving problems with or without computers.

For us, preparing students for the future also means preparing the teachers who guide them.

Next stop: Wa! 🚀

Another wonderful experience with the MoCD/ATC Ghana, GES Girl Child regional coordinators and 100 Girls in ICT Beneficiaries from Volta and Upper West Regions. ❤️

The 100 Girls in ICT Beneficiary Programme is an initiative by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization and its partners that brings together 100 top-performing girls selected from the larger Girls in ICT training programmes. Following the training of 1,000 girls in participating regions, 100 outstanding beneficiaries often receive laptops and travel to Accra for a technology educational tour, where they visit and learn from partners supporting the initiative.

This year, we were excited to once again welcome the girls at ATC Ghana, where the Ghana Code Club team engaged them in Coding, AI, Robotics and STEM Innovation, with a strong focus on using technology to identify and solve real-world problems. What impressed us most is always how quickly they grasped the concepts. In under four hours, the girls moved from learning and experimenting to developing projects and delivering their final presentations impeccably! 👏🏾

Experiences like this remind us that the future is indeed bright when girls are given the right tools, opportunities and confidence to explore what they can create. Empower a girl with technology, and you open a world of possibilities.

This engagement was also a special reminder of how far this journey has come.

Ghana Code Club has been part of the Girls in ICT journey since 2018. We helped outline the first curriculum for the coding-for-girls initiative and, together with the Kofi Annan Centre and other partners, participated in the first and second national Train-the-Trainer sessions that helped lay the foundation for the national Girls in ICT coding programme.

Eight years later, we are still affiliated as training partners for ATC Ghana and proud to be contributing to a programme that continues to expose more Ghanaian girls to technology, innovation and new possibilities. ❤️🇬🇭

As Ghana prepares to integrate Coding, AI and Robotics into the school curriculum, one question is important:

Are our teachers ready? And what happens in schools without computers, ICT labs or reliable internet?

This is a challenge Ghana Code Club has been working on for years.

At the Samsung Innovation Campus in Swedru, we’re preparing another group of teachers using our hybrid curriculum — combining hands-on, unplugged learning with computer-based Coding, AI and Robotics.

So whether a school has a fully equipped ICT lab or very limited technology, learning can still begin. Dennis Badzi
