CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICE
Theme:THE CHILD IN NEED – OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Beloved in Christ, you are warmly invited to join us for a time of worship and reflection centered on the theme THE CHILD IN NEED – OUR RESPONSIBILITY.
Our meditation will be guided by the Scriptures:
1st Reading – 1 KINGS 17:8–16
2nd Reading JAMES 1:27
3rd Reading – LUKE 16:19–31
Through these readings, we are reminded of God's call to care for children and others who are vulnerable and in need. The story of the widow of Zarephath demonstrates faith, generosity, and willingness to share even in times of scarcity. James teaches us that true and sincere faith is demonstrated through practical care for those who are vulnerable, while the story of the rich man and Lazarus challenges us not to remain indifferent to the suffering of others. Together, these Scriptures remind us that caring for a child in need is a shared responsibility. As families, individuals, the Church, and the wider community, we are called to provide love, protection, guidance, support, and opportunities for children to grow and flourish.

Theme: “CELEBRATING OUR HERITAGE: BUILDING ON THE FOUNDATION ALREADY LAID — CONSOLIDATING OUR GAINS IN PREVENTION, ADVOCACY AND TREATMENT”
Beloved in Christ, you are warmly invited to join us
for a time of worship and reflection centered on
the theme “CELEBRATING OUR HERITAGE: BUILDING ON THE FOUNDATION ALREADY LAID — CONSOLIDATING OUR GAINS IN PREVENTION, ADVOCACY AND TREATMENT.”
Our meditation will be guided by
the Scriptures:
1st Reading – English: PROVERBS 3:5–6
Reader: SIS. EUNICE MORGAN
2nd Reading – Ga: 1 CORINTHIANS 3:11
Reader: BRO. GEORGE ANOKYE
3rd Reading – Twi: LUKE 5:1–11
Reader: MISS ALICE AIDOO
Through these readings, we are reminded of the importance of trusting God, building on the firm foundation of Christ, and responding faithfully to the responsibilities He places before us. Proverbs calls us to trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all our ways, while 1 Corinthians reminds us that Jesus Christ is the only true foundation upon which we must build. In Luke 5, the disciples respond to Jesus' call with faith and obedience, demonstrating how lives can be transformed when people listen to Christ and act upon His word. As we celebrate our heritage and build on the foundation already laid, we are encouraged to consolidate the progress made in prevention, advocacy, and treatment, working together with wisdom, compassion, responsibility, and faith to promote the wellbeing of individuals, families, and our wider community.

Combined Main Points from Proverbs 3:5–6, 1 Corinthians 3:11 and Luke 5:1–11
1. Trust God Completely and Not Our Own Understanding
Proverbs 3:5–6 teaches us to trust the Lord with all our hearts and acknowledge Him in everything we do. Human understanding is limited, and there are times when circumstances do not make sense. God, however, sees the bigger picture. In a Ghanaian setting, a person may lose a job, experience difficulties in business, face challenges in marriage, or receive disappointing examination results and wonder what to do next. The lesson is not to depend entirely on our own calculations or panic, but to seek God's direction and allow Him to guide our path.
2. Build Your Life on Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 3:11 declares that no other foundation can be laid except Jesus Christ. A strong building requires a strong foundation, and the same is true of our lives. Money, education, political connections, family background, possessions, or human relationships cannot provide a permanent foundation. For example, someone may build a successful business in Accra, own houses and cars, and have influential connections, but if Christ is absent from the person's life, those achievements cannot provide lasting spiritual security. Everything we build should therefore be established on Christ and His teachings.
3. Obey God Even When His Instructions Do Not Seem Logical
In Luke 5:1–11, Peter and the other fishermen had worked throughout the night without catching anything. Yet Jesus instructed Peter to put the nets into deeper water. From a human perspective, Peter had every reason to doubt because he was an experienced fisherman and had already tried. Nevertheless, he obeyed, and the result was an extraordinary catch of fish. This teaches us that faith sometimes requires obedience even when we do not understand what God is doing. In Ghana, a farmer may plant during a difficult season, a young person may continue to pursue an honest career despite financial pressure, or a businessperson may choose integrity instead of corruption even when dishonest practices appear more profitable. Trusting God means allowing His Word to guide our decisions even when the outcome is not immediately visible.
4. Trust, Foundation and Obedience Must Work Together
These three passages complement one another: Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us to trust God, 1 Corinthians 3:11 tells us to build on Christ, and Luke 5:1–11 shows us what trusting Christ looks like in practice—listening to Him and obeying His instruction. Peter's experience demonstrates that faith is not merely saying that we trust God; it is acting on His Word. When Christ is the foundation, we can trust Him with our future, and when we trust Him, we become willing to obey Him.
5. God Can Turn Disappointment into Testimony
Peter's empty nets represented disappointment, frustration, and what appeared to be failure. Yet the same place where he experienced failure became the place where he witnessed God's power. This encourages Christians not to conclude that a difficult season means God has abandoned them. A failed business, unanswered prayer, delayed opportunity, or disappointing experience may not be the end of the story. Like Peter, believers are called to continue trusting and obeying Christ.
Overall Theme
These scriptures give us a powerful message: Trust God completely, build your life firmly on Jesus Christ, and obey His Word even when circumstances seem contrary to what He is saying. When Christ is our foundation, God's direction becomes more important than our fears, past experiences, or human understanding. Peter's experience reminds us that when we place our trust in Christ and follow His instructions, God can use even seasons of disappointment to accomplish His purpose in our lives.

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE
Theme:“NATURE, LIFE SOURCE FOR ALL INHABITANTS” — (THE GALAMSEY MENACE)*
SPEAKER: REV. ACP. JOHN OPOKU
LITURGIST:[Insert Liturgist Name]
Beloved in Christ, you are warmly invited to join us
for a time of worship, reflection, and learning centered on
the theme “NATURE, LIFE SOURCE FOR ALL INHABITANTS” — (THE GALAMSEY MENACE)
Our meditation will be guided by
the Scriptures:
1st Reading – English: GENESIS 1:26–28
Reader: SIS. CANDY ODONKOR
2nd Reading – Ga: ROMANS 8:22–25
Reader: BRO. GEORGE ANOKYE
3rd Reading – Twi: MATTHEW 25:14–30
Reader: MRS. DOROTHY AWUAH PEASAH
Through these readings, we are reminded that God entrusted humanity with the responsibility to care for His creation. Genesis teaches us that humanity was created in God's image and given the responsibility to exercise stewardship over the earth. Romans portrays creation as groaning and longing for restoration, reminding us that the condition of the natural world matters to God. In the parable of the talents, Jesus teaches that what has been entrusted to us must be used faithfully and responsibly. Together, these Scriptures challenge us to recognize the environment as a precious gift from God and to consider how our actions affect the land, water, forests, wildlife, and communities that depend upon them.
As we reflect on the challenges associated with galamsey may we be reminded of our responsibility to protect God's creation, use natural resources wisely, and make choices that preserve the environment for present and future generations. Let us seek solutions rooted in stewardship, responsibility, justice, and care for our communities.
