I was raised in an orphanage. Today, through Awisi Foundation, I turn compassion into hope for others.❤️ I can’t thank God enough for them!

I grew up at Nectar Orphanage Home in Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern part of Ghana. A lot happens within our environment and it is true that the life orphans/underprivileged children live is a big challenge. As difficult as it was, our orphanage was attended by volunteers and humanitarians from around the world. Their love for us, kindness and long discussions, sowed hope in my heart that there is a way out and that life goes on. After university I started Awisi Foundation as a way to give back. Through this initiative, thirty children have benefitted from an educational sponsorship, of which five are in university at the moment. Education is actually my main focus for this foundation. This is because, growing up in an orphanage, the care takers can take a lot of things from you but the one thing no one can take is your education. Even though education cannot be downplayed, not everyone can afford the costs. Some people find it hard to get money to feed themselves; let alone get quality education. A good way to ensure that poverty doesn’t deny such people access to quality education is to start a non-profit that generates funds to sponsor their education.

From a little boy to a young leader making us incredibly proud.

Today we’re celebrating Abednego, who has been chosen as the Boys’ School Prefect at his Junior High School! These photos tell the story of his journey and remind us just how much he has grown over the years.

Watching him become the young man he is today fills our hearts with so much joy. ❤️

And to Adrienne…thank you for continuing to sponsor Abednego. Your love and support are helping shape his future, and we’re so grateful for you. We love you! 🤗

Thank you, Stichting Help ons Helpen! (Netherlands) ❤️

To the incredible team at Stichting Help ons Helpen in the Netherlands especially Mr. & Mrs. Krijgsman, thank you for your generous donation of 15 metal bunk beds and 30 student mattresses to our orphanage home in Ghana. Your kindness has brought comfort and happiness to the children.

Moments like this remind us that love and compassion can travel across the world and touch lives in the most beautiful way.

Yesterday, I celebrated Mother’s Day at the Nectar Orphanage Home with the woman who gave so many of us a mother’s love when we had nowhere else to turn.

Growing up at the orphanage, Mama always made sure we were fed and cared for. Even to this day, the very first thing she asks me whenever I visit is, “W’adidi?” (Have you eaten?). Even though she is suffering from a stroke that has affected her speech, she still makes the “eating sign” to ask if I have eaten.🥹

That kind of love… pure, selfless, and constant… is something I will never stop being grateful for.

Mama, you are one of the greatest humans I know. I admire you deeply and pray I become even half the woman you are someday. Thank you for raising us with love, strength, kindness, and sacrifice. We love you so, so much.

Happy Mother’s Day to you and to all mothers out there. May God bless you endlessly for all that you do. Always, always.❤️

THANK YOU FOR MAKING “WEAR TO LEARN” A BEAUTIFUL REALITY 💙

Wear to Learn: The School Uniform Project by Awisi Foundation, in partnership with has been completed and it’s all because of your kindness. This is our second Wear to Learn project, and once again, you showed up for us in the most incredible way.

Because of you, children in Sissala East, Upper West Region in Ghana are now stepping into school with confidence and joy. What may look like just a uniform is so much more it’s hope, it’s belonging.

Kind people are my absolute favorite kind of people and this journey has reminded me that there are still so many of you in the world. Thank you for being the reason a child smiles a little brighter and walks a little prouder.

We are deeply, deeply grateful.

From all of us at Awisi Foundation and thank you for choosing kindness. You’ve truly changed lives. God bless you! 🫶🏾🤗

This is only the beginning ✨

Thank you, Blue Coat Church of England School! (UK)❤️

To the KS5 & KS4 textile students, Mrs. Webster, and Mrs. Hathaway at Blue Coat Church of England School in the UK: your beautiful clothes, made by the KS5 and KS4 students themselves, have brought so much joy to little hearts! 🥰✨

Knowing that you thought of these children from so far away reminds us how powerful kindness can be. It truly crosses borders.

Your generosity has made a real difference and brought smiles that will be remembered for a long time. Thank you for sharing your hearts with the children and with us.

With all our love and gratitude,
The Awisi Foundation ❤️
