Serge Ouyengah joins Node Eight as a Finance Intern, working across the broader Node Eight team and supporting the Venture Studio.

Serge is studying Banking and Finance at Academic City University College. Outside the coursework, he is the sort of person who works a maths problem until it gives way, and who takes things apart to understand how they hold together.

Those two habits, the analytical and the hands-on, are most of what building a venture actually asks for.

He will work across the portfolio, supporting the FAFA team on financial modelling, pathways to become financially sustainable and investment ready.

In his own words: “I did not come here to watch. I want to get into the problems, break a few things while I learn how they work, and leave something behind that is actually useful.”

Last Friday, our Eight Fellows took Afiyai out for its first real-user test! 🚀

Afiyai is a digital health platform that helps healthcare organisations turn one-off community blood pressure screenings into continuous monitoring, follow-up and support for people to stay on track with their care.

The Fellows watched the node eight community members explore the platform, listened closely to their feedback and identified what needs to be improved.

Safe to say, the Eight Fellows cooked! 🔥

Over the next few weeks, they will refine the platform and get it ready for Afiyai’s first community health outreach in September.
